The New York Jets have lost safety Jim Leonhard for the rest of the season. They’ve filled his spot on the roster with veteran free agent Gerald Alexander.
The team announced this evening that Alexander, cut by the Dolphins last month, has been added to the team.
A second-round pick in the 2007 draft, Alexander spent his first two seasons with the Lions. Traded to the Jaguars in 2009, Alexander was cut during the 2010 season. He finished out the 2010 season with the Panthers.
Brodney Pool will replace Leonhard in the starting lineup when the Jets visit the Eagles on Sunday.
