Last night, the Falcons said they’d have no comment on the report from Len Pasquarelli of the Sports Xchange that coach Mike Smith is still experiencing chest-related discomfort, and that he could have more testing after Thursday night’s game.

Today, the Falcons have commented. And they deny it.

He feels fine,” Falcons V.P. of Football Communications Reggie Roberts told D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “He spent the week preparing his team for the nationally televised game against Jacksonville. Smith had a previously scheduled appointment. It was made after he left the hospital in Charlotte.”

Curiously, Pasquarelli has now filed an updated report, which meshes with Roberts’ comments -- and makes no mention of Smith having ongoing chest-related discomfort, or of last night’s report that Smith was experiencing persistent chest-related discomfort.

It’s unclear whether Pasquarelli has abandoned his report of ongoing chest-related discomfort, whether he stands by it, or whether he’s simply pretending it never happened.

For now, we’ll simply move on.
