As things stand now, the Vikings have the #2 pick and the Rams have the #3 pick because, although the each have only 2 wins, the Rams have had a tougher schedule.

Having said that, even though they need O-line help, I still believe the Rams will go for the stud WR, because it’s critical that Bradford have someone talented to throw the ball to.

Toons-you are right that Saffold was good last year and I realize he had a concusion but this year was a letdown. The Rams have alot needs;they were dreadful against the Seahawks.

He’s a good OL talent, with the athleticism and length to potentially be very good, but I don’t know if he’s a great OL draft value overall, in comparing him to top LT prospects of the past few years. That said, he’s probably the best of the lot at a premium position, and he should go top 5. Experience, and a pro-strength program should make him that much better. Somewhat reminds me of Jordan Gross in some respects, just a solid all-around guy.

Someone said he was the safest pick in the draft. I think Kalil has the highest ceiling of all the LT’s in the draft, and is fairly safe, but I’m not sure he’s safer than Reiff of Iowa in the same way that Bulaga was arguably safer than Okung/Williams that year (and I think Reiff is a better talent than Bulaga, and the gap from Reiff to Kalil, in terms of upside, isn’t much).

draftdoctor – Rodger Saffold was excellent last year for the Rams. He was hurt this year. Overall, hard to call him a disappointment. My guess is that they’ll either try to add a playmaker to their offense (wouldn’t stun me if the Rams took Trent Richardson and moved on from the Steven Jackson era, but obviously, WR is the bigger individual need). A lot will come down to how things play out this offseason for the WR group and who the Rams bring in, assuming Spagnuolo is out (and there’s so much smoke about that, it’s hard for me to think Spagnuolo makes it back, although I think he is a good coach).

The Vikings will rnd up with the 2nd pick if the Rams and Vikings both end up with 2 wins because the Rams will end with the stronger strength of schedule. If the Rams did get the 2nd pick because the Vikings beat the Redskins, they may trade the pick to a team wanting Barkely.The Rams have far more needs than the Vikings and could use the extra picks. Also the Rams have had bad luck picking OTs high in the draft and may be gun shy.Alex Barron, Jason Smith and Roger Saffold were disappointments.

filings just drafted a first round qb…..no way they take luck, even if he’s o worry the board, which he wont be. Kalil or Blackmon in purple, two huge needs, so no mistakes here. Skol Vikings!

he may be the most valuable player in the draft and will easily be the safest pick of the first round. and if you think he’s “overrated” then you’re just not very bright at all. somebody is gonna get a lot better real quick with matt kalil on their team

Yeah too bad the Vikings get the 2nd pick if they both stay at 2 wins. SOS is the first factor in tiebreakers and the Rams have the higher SOS.

Rams going to auction #2 pick off to the highest bidder for Kalil. Think about the new labor agreement…. Top 2 overall franchise tackle for under 5 million / year. They will recoup more value for him than Cleveland did for Julio Jones pick last year. Great way for Cowher to head into St. Louie as coach and GM.

@trbowman this guy is no question a much better prospect than Ryan Kalil ever will be, and Ryan is pretty good. Theres no denying hes amazing, if you have ever seen any of his tape he dominates anybody who tries to get by him

The way it’s looking now..he should land in Minnesota with the #3 pick. Luck is going to the Colts. Blackmon will go to the Rams. The Vikings are DESPERATE for offensive line help and this kid is on the left side of the line. He will be a great pickup for the Vikes.
