The Raiders placed cornerback Chris Johnson on the reserve/non-football illness list on Saturday, ending his season.

Expected to be a starter this year, Johnson suffered through an injury-plagued season that only included four games.

He suffered an enormous personal tragedy two weeks ago, when his mother was shot and his sister Jennifer Johnson was killed in Fort Worth, Texas. The father of Jennifer Johnson’s child was charged with the murder.

Chris Johnson returned to the team quickly after the shooting, but was absent from practice this week. His mother Della Johnson is expected to survive the shooting.
