First off I understand that Chris Johnson is experiencing a personal tragedy that I would not want my enemy to experience. I get it, I understand it, and I comprehend that there are greater things in life then football or work.

However the NFL is entering into week 15 of a 17 week regular schedule. Just a couple of weeks ago the team looked poised for a post season appearance and possible home game. I don’t know about the rest of the readers on this forum but if I were placed in Chris Johnson’s position my bereavement leave would have eclipsed at this point and I would be back to work.

I am also a firm believer that if the Raiders had momentum and were still looking to clinch the AFC West Chris Johnson, and line of other players who are no longer stepping onto the field, would be playing hard looking to get paid in the off season. For team like the Steelers, Patriots, and Packers the players always give so much in line of sacrifice for there teams. For teams like the Raiders, Rams, and Bengal’s there are always issues more important that football. (or there job)

raiderinva says: Dec 17, 2011 9:00 PM

This is just another example of a player on this team giving up. As soon as people started to talk about this team in a positive light, they put it in neutral.

They can’t score unless it’s a gimmick play and the defense is on the field so much when they blitz you don’t realize it.

If things were on track fora playoff run, Chris would be back and looking to capitalize on a post season appearance contract. This is the M.O. of the Raiders for the past decade and the future looks like a rewind of the past.
-----------------------------------------------

Giving up? The guy's mother and sister were shot. And your thoughts immediately go to how he's quitting on making the playoffs?

Obviously Johnson and the Raiders agree that he's got bigger priorities right now, such as being with his family.

Your frustration here with the Raiders' current play isn't entirely wrong, but tying it to Johnson's situation is. Its embarrassing to Raiders fans. spfinne said it right; your priorities are seriously messed up. Glad Johnson's aren't.

don’t know what to say to the above post by “raiderinva” except that you have no class. The man’s sister was killed and mother was shot and you want to call him a “quiter”. Wow dude. Get a grip. And this is coming from a lifelong 49er fan and absolute raider hater. You need to re-evaluate your priorities

The Raiders did a very classy thing here. Johnson can't really help that team with that horrible tragedy on his mind right now. I think he needs the offseason to grieve and get his mind in a position to perform to his ability.
