Regardless of when the Saints and quarterback Drew Brees work out a new long-term deal (and it’s hard not to believe they will), Brees continues to build leverage toward getting paid as much or more than Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.
Brees has completed 22 of 27 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns in his team’s game at Minnesota. He currently has 4,653 yards on the season, only 431 short of the all-time single-season record.
The Saints lead the Vikings 28-13. With a loss, Minnesota would fall to 2-12. A win would help the Saints keep pace with the 49ers for the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff field.
