Roethlisberger officially starting for Steelers; Willis out for 49ers

Ben Roethlisberger AP

While it comes as no surprise, we can tell you that Ben Roethlisberger is officially active for Monday night’s game.

Yes, he’ll be starting at quarterback according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Roethlisberger did not appear to be moving well in warmups and was limping heavily, but he will get the call.  Center Maurkice Pouncey and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders are both out for the Steelers.

Also out for Pittsburgh: tackle Jamon Meredith, defensive end Al Woods, linebacker Chris Carter, and cornerback Curtis Brown.

The 49ers will be without their best player. Linebacker Patrick Willis is out with a hamstring injury, as expected.  Wide receiver Braylon Edwards is also out for San Francisco, which is a mild surprise.

The rest of the San Francisco inactives: Fullback Moran Norris, offensive lineman Michael Person, nose tackle Ian Williams, and cornerback Tramaine Brock.

I noticed that Ben was favoring the other ankle. I guess he forgot which one he injured…

The Steelers need to draft a back-up quarterback for next season. It is obvious that they have absolutely no confidence in Charlie Batch or Dennis Dixon.

Don’t forget James Harrison will also be out

Oh lord. You know Big Ben is going to hobble back to the huddle after every play like he’s been shot. And the 3 stooges in the booth, who know of his reputation as a drama queen, will nevertheless go on and on about how tough he is. Think I’ll mute the volume.

We’ll beat them without Willis !!!

You knew he’d play. Can’t miss a prime-time chance to limp around and play it up for a national audience. If an overly coddled, morally bankrupt multi-millionare playing on a sprained ankle isn’t a heroic warrior, I don’t know who is….

This could mean a huge setback for Big Ben and the Steelers. Get him healthy for the playoffs. Not a good move!

It is going to be a good game.

Here’s how this game goes down: 49ners win and steelers whine and cry all the way back to The Pitts. I’m no 9ners fan but that is a very special stadium and quirky stuff happens there all the time- tonight it all favors 9ners.

its amazing how everyone got the steelers losing before the game evan starts.everyone seems to forget the steelers have the second best D in the league.and doesnt matter if JH is out of this game they got JW to fill in and he is gonna be there future.

he’s so brave, playing on the most mild high ankle sprain possible. he really is tough and certainly doesn’t want all our pity. no wonder bathroom Ben had problems getting girls.

    Take him out, 49ers.

oh what a man! going out and braving the most mild ankle sprain he could have…let’s all praise him. he’s such a baby I can’t stand him.

I love all the hate. As long as there is the hate I know my Steelers are great.

  16. kaakwha says: Dec 19, 2011 8:29 PM

    @wtf
Just because Stinkerburgher is a pretty good QB, DOES NOT make him a man. He’s a spoiled punk who almost blew his dream job away because he couldn’t keep his hands off the young girls.

    He wins “unbelievable heroic effort”

He loses heroic effort just couldnt overcome the injury

What if he is knocked out in the first quarter? Ill be real happy

  18. caseyanthonymunoz says: Dec 19, 2011 8:34 PM

It’s not hate, kiddo. People are laughing at your QB for his “act”. Sorry son, facts are facts.

Blackout = gamesmanship? Is Harbaugh behind this?

They still have F.Gore the most underated running back in nfl

  22. MichaelEdits says: Dec 19, 2011 8:54 PM

The dude busted a windshield with his face and started. As long as the leg’s attached, he is in there.

  23. dmobey says: Dec 19, 2011 9:59 PM

Yes, Bathroom Ben is very tough.

He’s tough enought to force little girls to have sex.

But two picks? Maybe karma is cruel.

    Like the Superbowl.

He now has more picks than women he’s raped.

Oh wait, I should say almost as many as we know of. Who knows how many he’s actually raped.
