When it comes to the rivalry between the Giants and the Jets, the war of words won’t end before their game on Saturday. Or during.

Or after.

On Thursday, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis responded to a flurry of insults from Giants receivers Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, and Mario Manningham. Revis, along with cornerback Antonio Cromartie, had some impressive remarks, as chronicled by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

As to the notion that the Giants receivers aren’t “scared” of Revis, the All-Pro was pragmatic. And literal. “I’m not a monster,” Revis said. “So why would anyone be scared?”

That’s humorous. Which is the same general reaction Revis had to the comments. “These guys can say whatever they want,” Revis said. “You just laugh at it. . . . We’ll see.”

Said Cromartie regarding Nicks and Cruz: “You got guys that are not even Pro Bowl material. . . . Who really cares what they have to say?

Cromartie had a particularly harsh combo-diss at Manningham and Cruz. Said Cromartie of Manningham, “He let a guy named Victor Cruz come in and take his job.”

It adds even more flavor to a stew that has been spiked with a tablespoon of every spice on the rack. And there likely will be even more stuff thrown into the cauldron before Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
