Both Coach Tucker and Blaine Gabbert will be a distant memory next year.

Too many GOOD QB's are coming to the draft next year:

Andrew Luck
Matt Barkley(maybe)
RGIII
Kellen Moore
Russell Wilson
Case Keenum
Landry Jones

A new coach will pick one of them to be "His Guy".

ok, let me be the first to say that Gabbert has NOT played well and isnt tough or courageous in the pocket, BUT with that said, replacing him in a year would be stupid. RG3 and Barkley would BOTH fail in Jacksonville. what WRs want to sign there knowing the QB will be a rookie??? none. the Jags need weapons on offense to team with Gabbert, now if they do quit on him, if i were Gabbert i would head to Miami and see if they would sign him or ask for a trade to a QB needy team like Miami. we know Washington wont do it (he doesnt fit the offense), but Miami likely would. i personally think he CAN improve, people keep saying, quit on him, BUT this is NOT Clausen here!!! Clausen was a 2nd round pick, you dont look like the biggest idoits there, BUT you HAVE to remember Jacksonville traded Ryan Kerrigan and Jarvis Jenkins for this guy and used not a 2nd round pick, BUT a first round pick on him!

Oh yeah, I 'agree' with most of PFT it's all Gabbert's fault and he's the reason the Jags are having a losing season in 2011. Never mind the bad play calling/coaching under the QB coach, JDR, and Koetter most of the year. Never mind that we have the worst WR corp in the league. Never mind that the RT Guy Whimper is a continious spinning top at right tackle. Mojo is the only reliable supporting cast that Gabbert has all year. So lay of the rookie, he'll be fine next year with better players around him.

talent-wise, i think he is better than jimmy clausen, but mentally he makes clausen look courageous. he's just not very good. i'm not sure if he will ever be an NFL qb.

the jags need to pull the plug on the gabbert experiment so they don't waste 2, 3, 4, 5 years trying to find their guy and risk passing on a possible future star qb in the draft. that is the real risk. carolina's biggest risk in the past draft was passing up on cam. and cam was a risky draft pick at the time....it just would've been more crazy to pass on cam than it would be to pick him.

sticking with gabbert is the bigger, more long term risk than moving on with a new guy

"I think Gabbert is suffering from what I call “David Carr Disease”. He’s a guy who might have developed into a good NFL starter but he was thrown into a terrible offense and as a result has been shell shocked into being a quality career backup"

Except that his pocket presence was atrocious before he ever stepped foot in Jacksonville.

I already know everyone is going to play the supporting cast card to explain why Gabbert busted.

So lets say the Jaguars go out and draft another QB. Unless they upgrade the offensive line and WRs, they're going to have the same problems. Maybe the new guy will perform better than Gabbert, but it will still be impossible to succeed in that offense. Unless you consider one of the QBs available a can't-miss, once in a lifetime prospect, give Gabbert some help on offense and a full offseason of preparation to see what he can do. Teams that make panicky decisions based on a small sample size do not win championships. Patient teams willing to develop talent do.

Someone tell me how Gabbert is any better than Clausen was last year. Both were innacurate, petrified at the hint of a pash rush, panic in the pocket, no clue how to go through their progressions, etc. Carolina made the right decision and realized the sunk cost and took Newton. Jax should do the exact same thing and go with RGIII or Barkley.

I understand that he has no talent around him, but he has to at least show some 'flashes' of brilliance if you are going to tie your future to him. He has shown nothing. He has been as bad as any rookie QB I have ever seen. If that's not enough to move on to the next QB, I don't know what is.

I love this new social media era where now just b/c you have a blog or a voice on certain tv networks that you believe a rookie QB on a bad offensive team with a struggling offensive line and no WR’s is considered a bust.

____________

The unfortunate part of the 'new social media' is that they are not held accountable for the bs they seem to want to create ....... Plus what readers see in print or hear on certain tv networks, they erroneously take as being factual in nature when alot of it is just hype based on flimsy evidence ...... Makes a person want to shut it all out ......

The book is still being written. The first chapter was a nightmare and if the second chapter isn't dramatically better, there will be no need to check out chapter three.

The Jags and Shahid Khan will spend liberally on the offense this offseason and will likely draft heavily there as well. He needs a lot more of a supporting cast, especially outside the hash marks. I don't feel like drafting a young QB to push him would be the worst thing in the world, but from what I hear, they are sold on him having the tools to be a solid starter despite how awful he has looked thus far.

Blaine (AKA Sunshine) needs another year at least. There isn't a QB in the league that wouldn't struggle with the offense we have in JAX. Hopefully Kahn will get a real coach in here who can work with Gabbert. Hopefully Gene Smith (AKA uncle fester) will be able to overhaul the offense while keeping the defense intact. Looks like another year or two of rebuilding. ...Hang in there Jville. Go buy season tickets. Better days are coming. GO JAGS!!!!

Gabbert was hilariously overdrafted. To me, he was a 2nd or 3rd round developmental project. But what do I know?

Anyway, that said, the kid has had no shot this year; within about .25 seconds after the ball is snapped, the backfield resembles the stampede into Wal-Mart when the doors open on Black Friday.

The Jags just should've taken their lumps with Luke McCown or found a veteran journeyman. As of right now, the kid they view as their franchise QB is dangerously close to having David Carr/Jim Everett Syndrome sink in.

I've either watched or been to every Jags game this season. Gabbert panics too quickly and shies away from contact. It can be so frustrating at times because he otherwise flashes a ton of talent. He's got a big time arm and can make all the throws. Until improved dramatically, his pocket presence, or lack thereof, will always hold him back, though.

Of course it doesn't help that Blaine's had incompetent coaching, THE worst receiving corps in the history of the mankind, and is behind a line that includes a rookie and a Guy named Whimper who has given up 10.5 sacks by himself.

He isn't as far off as most think. He showed several times in the TB game that he can step up and make some amazing throws. I'm not certain Brady/Jug-Head would fair much better behind this OL. Its literally a jailbreak more often that not. This is a result of JDR's 1960's offense that depended on road graders for the running game rather than pass blockers.
