He is going to develop on his own terms, and that doesn’t include being on the injured list like about 20 other NFL quarterbacks at the moment, or looking 100 years old before he turns 30, like Roethlisberger.

Clausen was a 2nd round pick, you dont look like the biggest idoits there, BUT you HAVE to remember Jacksonville traded Ryan Kerrigan and Jarvis Jenkins for this guy and used not a 2nd round pick, BUT a first round pick on him!

the jags need to pull the plug on the gabbert experiment so they don’t waste 2, 3, 4, 5 years trying to find their guy and risk passing on a possible future star qb in the draft. that is the real risk. carolina’s biggest risk in the past draft was passing up on cam. and cam was a risky draft pick at the time….it just would’ve been more crazy to pass on cam than it would be to pick him.

sticking with gabbert is the bigger, more long term risk than moving on with a new guy

Unless they upgrade the offensive line and WRs, they’re going to have the same problems. Maybe the new guy will perform better than Gabbert, but it will still be impossible to succeed in that offense. Unless you consider one of the QBs available a can’t-miss, once in a lifetime prospect, give Gabbert some help on offense and a full offseason of preparation to see what he can do. Teams that make panicky decisions based on a small sample size do not win championships. Patient teams willing to develop talent do.

You can’t be serious.

Clausen had 3 TDs in 13 games.

Gabbert has 11 TDs in 13 games.

Gabbert also has a higher completion % and more passing yards per game than “Pro Bowl QB” Tim Tebow.

I understand that he has no talent around him, but he has to at least show some ‘flashes’ of brilliance if you are going to tie your future to him. He has shown nothing. He has been as bad as any rookie QB I have ever seen. If that’s not enough to move on to the next QB, I don’t know what is.

The first chapter was a nightmare and if the second chapter isn’t dramatically better, there will be no need to check out chapter three.

The Jags and Shahid Khan will spend liberally on the offense this offseason and will likely draft heavily there as well. He needs a lot more of a supporting cast, especially outside the hash marks. I don’t feel like drafting a young QB to push him would be the worst thing in the world, but from what I hear, they are sold on him having the tools to be a solid starter despite how awful he has looked thus far.

Anyway, that said, the kid has had no shot this year; within about .25 seconds after the ball is snapped, the backfield resembles the stampede into Wal-Mart when the doors open on Black Friday.

The Jags just should’ve taken their lumps with Luke McCown or found a veteran journeyman. As of right now, the kid they view as their franchise QB is dangerously close to having David Carr/Jim Everett Syndrome sink in.

Gabbert panics too quickly and shies away from contact. It can be so frustrating at times because he otherwise flashes a ton of talent. He’s got a big time arm and can make all the throws. Until improved dramatically, his pocket presence, or lack thereof, will always hold him back, though.

Of course it doesn’t help that Blaine’s had incompetent coaching, THE worst receiving corps in the history of the mankind, and is behind a line that includes a rookie and a Guy named Whimper who has given up 10.5 sacks by himself.

He showed several times in the TB game that he can step up and make some amazing throws. I’m not certain Brady/Jug-Head would fair much better behind this OL. Its literally a jailbreak more often that not. This is a result of JDR’s 1960′s offense that depended on road graders for the running game rather than pass blockers.

Lets not forget that this might be the worst collection of WR’s ever in the NFL.
