People really amaze me with their justified hatred of McNabb. You say everyone goes easy on McNabb and yet all I see is unfairness to the guy

So you try to take away the hard work he did with the Eagles and give all credit to Andy Reid...fine

You claim a commercial gives some of you the right to make fun of his mom...good...

Now he's been kicked off the Eagles. Question...how is the "dream team" doing without McNabb? How about Kolb?

How are the Redskins and Grossman doing without McNabb? How are the Vikings doing without him??

So despite all of this, some of you still find the disgusting hate inside of you to make him the scapegoat anyway. How awesome

Meanwhile...even despite his solid career, you have other teams with great defenses and better wr's who's Qbs haven't taken them to 5 Nfc Championships. Seriously...where's the logic??

As a Vikings fan I hate the Pack but I don't feel the need to go off on them and their fans and organization every....single...chance I get. In fact, I even said something nice about Rodgers a couple weeks ago.

I feel like those of us that watch football know more than these GM's who get paid big money to make personel decisions. It was obvious that McNabb was washed up 3 years ago in Philly. Andy Reid makes QB's look good (see Kevin Kolb and Mike Vick).

If you cant make it work with Andy Reid, then you suck. He was terrible in Washington under another Shanahan, who is an offense minded coach.

The fact that they chose to bring this guy in speakes volumes about their decision making. McNabb was never known for making the effort to be great. He was bound to be a bust in Minnesota

briang123 says:

Ever since Rush Limbaugh said that McNabb would never be a good quarterback because he is black, people in this country, especially those of a certain elephant political party, feel that is is perfectly acceptable to racially slur McNabb. No one can possibly be shocked that the black quarterback is being blamed instead of the white coach. If McNabb were white, he would be praised every day for his working in developing Ponder, ignoring at Ponder has been erratic at best. It is really no different than how the last two presidents were treated. For obvious reasons, the last one got a pass on everything while the current one os blamed for everything.

***********************************************************************

Rush Limbaugh did NOT say "McNabb would never be a good Quarterback because he was black".

Rush Limbaugh said: "The NFL is desirous to have a great black Quarterback"....and he was absolutely correct in that statement. His point was that because of the NFLs desire to have a great black QB, that maybe McNabb was not quite as good as all the hype the NFL lavished upon him. Rush Limbaugh was absolutely right about this. It should also be noted that this is the very same desire which propels the NFL to continue with the "Rooney Rule" which mandates blacks be interviewed for every head coaching vacancy...... and it is also this very same desire we see of our government and many private institutions to implement Affirmative Action hiring programs which reject caucasians in favor of lesser qualified minority candidates because of their skin color. They refer to this race-based policy as "Social Justice". I called it Racial Discrimination.

It's sad when the media created "face offs" between McNabb and others and the "opponents" were ALWAYS viewed as villains!!!!!!!

ESPN employs morons!!!! It actually passed his phoniness as authenticity and occasionally toughness!!!

McNabb is not alone, but from now on it is time to view many of these media types as the boys who cried "wolf"!!!!!!!

You are a race-baiting short bus occupant. McNabb has dodged more bullets because of Rush's (correct) statements than could be accurately measured. He sucks. That, although simple, escapes you, I see.

McNabb came to the Vickings to be a starter, he did not prove to be one. Yes he deserves his blame. The Eagles saw it and gave him to Washington where he could no get in the game plan, he did no better in Minnesota. Now no one picked him up when many teams needed a starter type QB. The big blame is the Vickings not able to see he is done. McNabb had his day and now time to move on.

People in DC wanted to blame McNabb for not learning the playbook fast enough, or for not listening to his coaches.

Now in MN he's getting blamed for not learning coverages, etc.

You have to wonder about concussion and brain science. I seriously think McNabb should get his head tested, and I'm not being sarcastic. How is it in his best interest to end his career this way? I don't buy that his failure is all on attitude. Maybe he does think he's owed respect. But I wonder if the man needs medical attention.

Here's the thing... The Vikings brought McNabb into a major rebuilding project. Congratulations Donovan. You only played in 6 games, gave the vikings half their wins this season, got released, and yet the vikings say you are solely responsible for their 2-12 dungheap season long after you are gone.

The vikings empty trophycase has never been blamed on ownerhip, or the GM.
Only coaches and some players are responsible with the vikngs.

backindasaddle says: Dec 23, 2011 2:35 PM

What the heck is a “Stecklish debacle”???

The mistake was to bring McNabb in to begin with. He’s a fat, out of shape, unmotivated, selfish, lazy sloth. The entire league already knew it so the real mistake was to hire him to begin with.

I have absolutely no clue what a “Stecklish debacle” is. But if that’s what hiring McNabb means, then I guess this could be considered the “Stecklish debacle” of the Century.
==================================

Les Steckle was the coach of the team that truly quit playing back in 1983 I think.

As for the defense being lousy might be a factor of your top 5 DBs being on IR and a 6th being day-to-day.

McNabb sucked and everyone knew it. Was he the fault of the poor season? Partially but there is plenty of blame to go around.

McNabb contributed to the poor season, but most of the problems can be attributed to coaching. In most of the games after week one (when McNabb threw for 39 yards) the offense put points on the board and the defense held down opposition scoring in the 1st half. In the 2nd half the opposing offense and defense made adjustments and Minnesota did not. This is a coaching issue, but during the offseason Minnesota let starters go and started or picked up players that had previously been back ups. As the season wore on, players other than Peterson and Jared Allen played inconsistently and below par. Later on injuries may have played a role but the poor performance of the starters would liley have spread to those players too (except maybe for Winfield). I feel the general manager and ownership's lack of commitment to obtaining quality players is amuch to blame for the season record as coaching, if not more.

no, but he was the quarterback who couldn't convert a third down to keep the defense fresh and off the field. i don't see why Musgrave should take the blame for McNabb's performance. Frazier is the guy who pushed hard to trade for him and got his way.

Weak post, Mike. Pretty sure Musgrave doesn't have a say in personnel matters. I understand that you guys can't watch all of the games, but if you've watched any Vikings games this season, you'd know that play calling has been far from the offense's biggest problem. Musgrave has been a lot more creative in finding ways to get Percy Harvin the ball than Childress or Bevell ever were, and Musgrave's offense has looked a LOT better since they dumped McNabb's dead weight for Ponder. Yeah, getting McNabb was a mistake, but hindsight is 20/20, and a lot of people thought it was a smart move at the time.

Maybe the Philly fans got it right when for years they dogged this assclown. His success was from a stud defense. Just like Andy Reid's success. But we Philly fans are morons, right? Some how time proves us right every time.

This Vikings season can't be blamed on McNothing. The O-Line has been going back wards for at least 3 years. You have no WRs that strike fear in anyone, and that includes Migraine boy. Your secondary is a joke. This team has bigger holes then Paris Hilton. McNothing isn't the reason they suck, the GM is. Trade J.Allen for all that you can and hire a new GM.

So it has to be black and white? McNabb or Frazier?

Any serious football fan knew there would be teams that would struggle with zero offseason. MN was obviously one of the most likely franchises:
-New head coach (1st time head coach)
-New staff
-New QB

A clear recipe for disaster. Throw in a QB change to a rookie and injuries/benching of an already uber -weak secondary......now you have a lottery team.

Any new coach should get a chance to have an off-season. D coordinator....gone. Zygi should let Frazier have next year and if it fails, he can get his star Coach/GM
