The Rams have listened to “experts” say for the last week that the Steelers could win with their “second, third, or fourth string QBs.” Chris Long, James Laurinaitis, Quintin Mikel, and Steven Jackson have heard the insults. Add to that the fact that Batch is nowhere near as mobile as Big Ben, nor can he extend the play like Ben, and you have a game that will probably be far more competitive than most people expect.

I don’t know if Ben will be active for the game, and/or if Dixon will be active.

CB makes an awesome QB coach and is an asset on the sidelines. That is likely why the Steelers keep the dude around. This is Dixon time. We need to see if he can play in spot situations without getting banged up or throwing 3+ picks. START DIXON!!!!! Starting Batch gets you nowhere at this point.

Do you know anything about the Steelers or just read stupid PFT posts? Their consistent playoff record should give you enough insight to the real truth. They are filled with great young players at most positions.
Even though they are very loyal, they are willing to cut productive players for better young players e.g. Joey Porter, Gilden and many others. Check out two rookie starters on the OL. Check out the DL with 3 first and 2nd yr starters getting worked in. Maybe receivers is another position you could check out. Maybe defensive backs.
You might want to brush up a little on Steeler history and current info to support your points.

on a not related to the article,Batch is the number 2 QB why shouldnt he start.what exactly has Dixon done with the Steelers besides nothing.and cry that he wants to be a starter.sorry bud this is not gonna happen in your carrier.i honestly do not think Dixon is good enough at least on the Pittsburgh style offense .and that o-line lol..if The Organization wants Ben to complete his contract they had better start focusing on the obvious,and thats the O-line.3 years now Ben has been getting slaughtered by defenses and they think what they are doing is going to work?

Let’s face it CB, at this point, is really the third string QB behind Byron Leftwich (IR), which make make Dixon the 4th string…

With Houston’s loss a first round bye is not out of the question. Cin. could take the Ravens next week especially if they have something to play for.

Couldn’t agree more, these games prove to everyone that when Ben cannot get out of the pocket and extend plays he is average at best. Ben is an elite quarterback but not because of his passing ability. He has a unique ability to create and improvise which not other qb can do on the same level. Keep in in the pocket and make him drop back and throw and you see that he is an average NFL QB.

EVEN IF we accept the fact that Tomlin chose to start Ben in spite of knowing that he was completely immobile (of all the possible scenarios, ignorance on Tomlin’s part is the least likely), the first quarter, or at the very least the first half, should have been indication enough that Ben would have been better off trying to recover than risk further injury. I don’t understand why it took them a week and a terrible game to figure that out.

As it is, the situation this week is basically the same as last week, except that the Rams aren’t the 49ers, and apparently Tomlin decided to start calling the shots again (I’m sure Ben would play if given the opportunity).

This bodes well for the Rams.

I think Pittsburgh would beat Oakland but I don’t see Oakland winning the division.
