I name Roethlisberger Rapist Pig of the NFL. All you home town appologists should read the transcripts before you dismiss it yet again. The guy should be in jail.

DRGFRI, Being it you have this view of Big Ben, I invite you to read up on the following link im going to post for you and others to read. I believe after you read such, you will have a better understanding of the circumstances etc. I realize Ben wears the black and gold and you more than likely hate anything that has to do with the Steelers. However, if your opinion does not change after reading this article, perhaps you should think about other situations you have brain washed yourself to believe that could be ficticious which in return would not allow you to comprehend reality of any fact or facts.

Never underestimate the power of motivation.

The Rams have listened to "experts" say for the last week that the Steelers could win with their "second, third, or fourth string QBs." Chris Long, James Laurinaitis, Quintin Mikel, and Steven Jackson have heard the insults. Add to that the fact that Batch is nowhere near as mobile as Big Ben, nor can he extend the play like Ben, and you have a game that will probably be far more competitive than most people expect.

Here is a team seems all like to jump on and a QB that is prosacuted on each comment after every article but the Steelers still stay in the hunt. They have had all kinds of injuries all year including on their QB yet still are 1/2 game behind the Ravens. They get no mention of all the injuries to key people yet have won games. Hell they stayed in the Monday Night game till late with a QB that could hardly run off the field. I would not want to play them in the playoffs.

Let's not forget Pittsburgh still has a top ranked defense which in this game may be our best offense. I do agree that Dixon should start, at the very least he can run for first downs when needed. As far taking a sack/hit, Batch may be a little worse off than Dixon purely due to age. Let's just get the win and move on to the Cleveland game. And watch Balitmore lose 2 straight !!!

For the big picture, this is the right choice. Steelers should beat the Rams without Ben, with the rest of the talent they have. Ben needs to be in best possible shape for the playoffs, since he will be counted on to move around and create positive plays. He is the best QB in the league at doing that when he is reasonably healthy and has his mobility; he didn't come close to having that last week agains SF and it showed. Now in the chance that the Ravens are losing/lose to the Browns, and the Steelers are losing with Batch, they can consider putting Ben in depending on his condition. But he should not start and hopefully won't be needed at all in any way, shape or form.

I don't know if Ben will be active for the game, and/or if Dixon will be active.

GO STEELERS!!

Don't get me wrong, I love Charlie Batch. He is likely one of the most intelligent QBs in the league and understands the game like few can. Unfortunately, his body has broken down from injuries and lack of playing time. He can still eat up yardage underneath, but cannot throw anything beyond 20 - 30 yards downfield.

CB makes an awesome QB coach and is an asset on the sidelines. That is likely why the Steelers keep the dude around. This is Dixon time. We need to see if he can play in spot situations without getting banged up or throwing 3+ picks. START DIXON!!!!! Starting Batch gets you nowhere at this point.

This is typical of the organization. They continue to start the old, dried up players over the fresh and talented players. They are loyal to a fault and it will cost them until they work the newer players in to permanent.
________________________________

Do you know anything about the Steelers or just read stupid PFT posts? Their consistent playoff record should give you enough insight to the real truth. They are filled with great young players at most positions.
Even though they are very loyal, they are willing to cut productive players for better young players e.g. Joey Porter, Gilden and many others. Check out two rookie starters on the OL. Check out the DL with 3 first and 2nd yr starters getting worked in. Maybe receivers is another position you could check out. Maybe defensive backs.
You might want to brush up a little on Steeler history and current info to support your points.

.................................................................................

and for what reason should this be aloud?and not a legit comment?this is where PFT has this site all messed up in a bad way.when is it gonna end?people need to grow up or PFT needs to open there eyes and put a stop to this behavior on here.

on a not related to the article,Batch is the number 2 QB why shouldnt he start.what exactly has Dixon done with the Steelers besides nothing.and cry that he wants to be a starter.sorry bud this is not gonna happen in your carrier.i honestly do not think Dixon is good enough at least on the Pittsburgh style offense .and that o-line lol..if The Organization wants Ben to complete his contract they had better start focusing on the obvious, and thats the O-line.3 years now Ben has been getting slaughtered by defenses and they think what they are doing is going to work?

really?

They're right in sitting Ben for at least this week if not next week as well. Personally I'd go with Dixon - more mobility and stronger arm. Batch has been pretty fragile over the last few seasons; so we might see Dixon as well.

With Houston's loss a first round bye is not out of the question. Cin. could take the Ravens next week especially if they have something to play for.

It’s the right move to go with Charlie Batch here. Ben really needs to get that leg healed up for the playoffs. He was in no way ready for that game against the 49ers and he was the reason the Steelers lost more than anything else. When he is hobbled like that it takes a HUGE part of his game away and renders him far less effective. It’s vital that they get him back healthy again or they’ll be toast in the playoffs.

________________________________

Couldn't agree more, these games prove to everyone that when Ben cannot get out of the pocket and extend plays he is average at best. Ben is an elite quarterback but not because of his passing ability. He has a unique ability to create and improvise which not other qb can do on the same level. Keep in in the pocket and make him drop back and throw and you see that he is an average NFL QB.

"We’ve said all week that it made sense for the Steelers to go all out for a bye against San Francisco."

Yeah, except it didn't make sense. At all.

EVEN IF we accept the fact that Tomlin chose to start Ben in spite of knowing that he was completely immobile (of all the possible scenarios, ignorance on Tomlin's part is the least likely), the first quarter, or at the very least the first half, should have been indication enough that Ben would have been better off trying to recover than risk further injury. I don't understand why it took them a week and a terrible game to figure that out.

As it is, the situation this week is basically the same as last week, except that the Rams aren't the 49ers, and apparently Tomlin decided to start calling the shots again (I'm sure Ben would play if given the opportunity).

I think the Steelers would be better off with the 6th Seed and playing Houston, than the 5th playing Denver or the Chargers. The Chargers would really be a bad matchup and I still think they will catch Denver.

I think Pittsburgh would beat Oakland but I don't see Oakland winning the division.

It's amazing that the Steelers still have a shot at the bye. Not only did the Birdies sweep Pittsburgh but they have a shot at sweeping the division. Talk about a team that coughs when the stakes are high. Our QB is hurt, our center is hurt, Woodley is hurt, Harrison was suspended.....Everyone has injuries but not THESE injuries....and we still have a shot at a bye, albeit slim.
