Even a good half by the Bears isn’t enough

Bears Packers Football AP

The Bears gameplan has mostly gone to according to plan on Christmas night.

And they are still trailing 14-3 at halftime.

Chicago rushed for 127 yards with Kalil Bell and Armando Allen. They gained more yards than the Packers overall, and dominated line of scrimmage and they forced three and outs by the Packers offense.

And the Bears are still trailing 14-3.

Josh McCown has looked like a clear upgrade from Caleb Hanie, but it will be tough for the Bears to stick with their “shorten the game” approach on the ground of they fall any further behind.

This game has been more compelling than expected, but the Bears turned the ball over and missed a field goal in the first. They can’t win unless they are playing perfect and that’s not happening.

The Bears can’t win with their 3rd string QB, 3rd string RB, best playmaking WR, and a hurt Hester.

The bigger story is the Packers looking like garbage. When McCown and Bell have gone up and down the field on you, you know your D is in A LOT of trouble.

A good QB/offense will torch this D at will (think New Orleans, Detroit, Atlanta, etc.).Packer fans should be scared… A one and done playoff year is coming!!!

The Bears DST may not be playing that badly, but they have 0.00 fantasy pts, that I can tell you from personal experience, dude.

call me when the packer get a defense. until then I refuse to believe or put any stock in this team.

    frankly

they suck, most overrated 13-1 team ever!

  4. textexington says: Dec 25, 2011 10:16 PM

    21-10. Defend that.

  5. swensose says: Dec 25, 2011 10:29 PM

I love how the Bears have played the pack 5 times in 2 years and still can’t figure out what the hell the Pack are doing on offense.

  6. TJ says: Dec 25, 2011 10:34 PM

The good thing about the Packers is that all the defenses they’d face in the playoffs are all garbage, except for San Fran.

  7. textexington says: Dec 25, 2011 10:35 PM

    28-10. Rodgers.is.God.

  8. thereisnoiinteam says: Dec 25, 2011 10:43 PM

I love when people say one and done for a team that looks like garbage and is up 35-10 at the start of the 4th qtr. Brilliant football minds. I’m amazed you are not working in an NFL front office.

  9. gimmeabruschi says: Dec 25, 2011 10:46 PM

The Bears purely stink. That D is an embarrassment against Rodgers.

  10. timegambit says: Dec 25, 2011 10:46 PM

Bears remind me of Ron Burgundy: “I have no heart!”

How do you show up on prime time, on Xmas, in a supposed fierce rivalry game, and gently back down and let gb make fools of the whole damn city.

Chicago is the new whales vagina.

  11. willardj says: Dec 25, 2011 10:47 PM

Packers defense is very underrated. They give up a lot of yards, but they are in the upper half of teams in points allowed. They stop teams in the red zone and they generate tons of turnovers. They remind me of the 2009 Saints defense that won the Superbowl.

Josh McCown just walked into the endzone and dunked on your goalpost…

    Josh McCown ladies and gentlemen…

Does anybody really think GB is putting 100% into this game? I promises they are using only as much energy as they need to WIN and get the F out w/o more injuries.

I’m not saying the D is w/o issues. No passrush all year and the run D has been very bad lately but it also appears that Capers is being very vanilla.

The Packers are clearly in ‘get the season over with mode’ w/o losing anymore key players.

As a Packer fan I know GB isn’t going to stop anybody from here on out….Rodgers is gonna have to be awesome and on point for a repeat to happen.

But lets see…Patriots can’t stop anybody….Big Ben is hurt….Does Alex Smith scare anybody?

How good is NO on D?

Point is every PO team is flawed.

As for those of you all butthurt about GB being ‘overrated’ despite a 19-0 run w/ a Super Bowl title won completely on the road…I say fine…cool…spit your venom…I’m too busy polishing our latest LOMBARDI.

Hey 46defense – the Packers will lose to a good offense you say? You mention the Saints, Falcons, and Lions? Clearly you aren’t a knowledgeable football fan. The Packers have played all 3 of those teams. Let me give you a little review on those games. Packers vs Saints – Packers won. Packers AT Falcons – Packers won. Packers AT Detroit – Packers won.

Do yourself a favor and stay off the comments section until you get a clue.

Bears suck, Urlacher is the most overated palyer ever in the league history, he sucks !!!!

  17. txbearmeat says: Dec 25, 2011 11:16 PM

46 – wishful thinking. Just because that’s what you want does not mean that’s what’s going to happen.

GB’s D isn’t going to hold anyone under 300 yards. Most not under 400. But in every game but ONE this year, they’ve gotten more than 1 turnover, and that’s enough with the offense healthy come playoff time.

No one’s holding this offense under 30 again this year.

  18. Matt says: Dec 25, 2011 11:24 PM

One and done? We’ve already beaten all three of those teams you mentioned. All of those great offenses (read: dome teams) have to come to Lambeau and try throwing in single digit temps. Rodgers has mastered it. Brees, Stafford, and Ryan? Not so much. They won’t be able to feel their hands, much less throw a football.

  19. 46defense says: Dec 25, 2011 11:27 PM

Hahaha, I cannot wait to sign on here in the playoffs when Detroit wipes the floor with you guys… They are better, but that’s only when the Packers don’t cry forever about getting flags and calls.

Watch that Suh kick, he barely touches the guy and five Packers all start yelling for the ref. They’re like that kid in school that reminds the teacher to check homework.

Mr. Suh is angry, and when they take out the Green Gay Fudge Packers in the playoffs you guys can go back to choking our kids like you did when the Chiefs beat the crap out of your team…

  20. textexington says: Dec 25, 2011 11:40 PM

    Packers>Lions.

  21. fless43 says: Dec 25, 2011 11:47 PM

46 – keep telling everyone how this team and that team will beat Green Bay. The whole Fudge Packers thing is pretty original too. You never did respond to the FACTS that were laid out for you. Way to keep it classy.

    46defense:

Enjoy your playoff berth and good luck in the postseason, see you next week at Lambeau.

Wow, 46defense. Off the Bears and a big Lions fan now, huh? That didn’t take long. Typical Illinesian.

  24. donmajik7 says: Dec 26, 2011 12:17 AM

    @46defense……

You really don’t know football do you, as it sits the Lions will be on the road at either NO or DAL/NYG. They could beat Dallas but since you obviously don’t watch football I’ll clue you in on what happened against NO a few weeks back….They got smoked!!!! Detroit won’t make it out of round 1.

That said the Pack better get a clue on D. Its sad that every week we see how bad Hawk is, possibly the worst starting LB in football who can’t tackle before being dragged 5 yards. Smith should take his job cuz at least he can tackle. BJ Raji is an absolute joke of a DT and other then a 7 game run last year is a bust, he takes almost every play off. He can’t win a 1 on 1 match up to save his life. Peprah is not an NFL caliber safety. Tramon is horrible this year and afraid of contact as is Bishop.

This falls on the shoulders of Capers who has a life span of 3 years in every NFL job he has had before his scheem is figured out. Also on TT for not addressing the fact that the only other player on the team who could rush the passer was allowed to leave for the Eagles in free agency. They ran at the left side all night and had no answer to stop it. If they can’t make adjustments, 1 and done is the likely end to this season which is a shame based on Rodgers’ performance. No team can overcome these odds when their D has allowed more yardage then the offense has gained.

Truly — you can’t be serious.

A team *can’t* be 13-1, um, excuse me, 14-1, and be overrated.

As for the silly “one and done” in the playoffs — which team in the hunt, exactly, is going to knock off the Packers in that one at Lambeau?

I bet your mad Santa didn’t bring you a brain so you could make 1/2 way intelligent arguments on a sports site. New Orleans a southern dome team at Lambeau The Pack beat them already Falcons a southern dome team at Lambeau the Pack beat them already. Detroit a Dome team at Lambeau the Pack beat them already. 4 straight wins against the Bears twice eliminating them from the playoffs (to bad losers) .
    Good Logical Arguments MORON
Stay in Chicago think about no Super Bowls for 26 years .Then hope for a tornado then sing and dance to the Emerald City with Dorothy .Santa didn’t bring you a brain Maybe the Wizard will

So that must mean you have choked the hell out of your kids 8 times this year The Packers haven’t lost that many in 2 Years idiot

FUDGE PACKERS yep they have packed the Bears Fudge 4 straight times How does it feel losing to your arch rivals in the NFC Championship game ? I ask because I don’t know how that feels idiot but you do.Hell you have to go back 25 years to know what winning a Lombardi feels like. Sure was nice taking the trophy named after Halas from you in the Beat’s Stadium (That even sucks compared to the Packers)
Well maybe you can beat us in the Playoffs this year Oh wait you can’t ………………….Loser
