Tony Romo will be fine, would have returned if Giants had lost

Although Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had a badly swollen passing hand on Saturday, Romo says he wanted to return to the game against the Eagles -- and would have if the game had meant anything to the Cowboys’ playoff hopes.

But because Romo knew the Giants had won earlier in the day -- and therefore the Cowboys’ NFC East hopes would come down to their Week 17 game against the Giants regardless of the result against the Eagles -- there was no reason for him to return.

I would’ve tried very hard,” Romo told ESPN’s Ed Werder. “No question. I did a little bit, but the coaching staff decided against that.”

The Cowboys are confident that Romo will be good to go on Sunday against the Giants.
