I hope at this point Rex Ryan leaves and goes to a team that won't tie his hands then leave him taking all the blame. He's the best thing about the coaching staff and it is painfully obvious at this point he deserves better. How many guys in this day and age have his loyalty, relentless optimism and class to go down with the ship like this man? Not many!

Most people see his big mouth about promising super bowls as a flaw, but I see it as a strength. He is just doing everything he can, which is not enough, to help his embattled team.

Despite all the guys mentioned that deserve firing, I'll be surprised at this point if *ANY* of them are. I am sure a lot of unsavory types would love to work for the Jets at this point. I love watching the Jets in turmoil. Its hysterical. All the Jet fans are going to be so excited when Schotty gets fired and then talk Super Bowl again, then crash and burn once again next season when they realize its their idiot QB that is the problem. A good QB would still have made the throws regardless of how many times he had to drop back. He didn’t. Because he is terrible. End of story. But the witch hunt continues, because we all know it couldn’t be Sanchez.

____________________________
The point is that fans want to see Sanchez with a different coordinator (Norv Turner?), before we give up on him. As cliche as its become -mostly because of Rex- Sanchez really does show glimpses of really impressive play. The problem is that Schottenheimer puts him in bad situations and constantly ignores his strengths.

Give him another OC and another year (with an improved oline) and see if he takes a step. He's making a lot of money, there's no getting around that.

You Jet fans blaming Schotty for Sanchez’s failures are ridiculous and just playing into your normal, oblivious, scapegoat mentality. I guarantee you that at least 20 of those 67 drop backs were audibles called by Sanchez at the line. Once Schotty throws on a jersey & straps on a helmet, then you can blame him for the offense not executing. In 2002 Jim Fassel of the NY Football Giants stripped the play-calling duties of his OC late in the season. It worked for a short while, but the truth wound up being that Kerry Collins was washed up and declining & that the OL sucked. Can you guess who that OC was? Sean Payton; the same Sean Payton who ran a successful offense in Dallas the following 2 years; & the same Sean Payton that won a Super Bowl as a play-calling head coach for the Saints, one of the most consistently prolific offenses since the Mike Martz Rams. It’s the players, not the play callers.

_______________________________________

On 4th and 1 (and with the Jets averaging 4.2 yards per carry), Schotty decided to have Sanchez go from the shotgun with a 3 WR set.

Now, imagine that idiotic and unbelievable play calling on 90% of your offensive plays in each of the past 5+ years.

THAT is Brian Schottenheimer. I'm not blaming Schotty for all of Sanchez's issues, but it's become evident that he's just not the guy to lead a young quarterback.

Hopefully the Dolphins offer him their head coaching position.

When the Jets fire Schott, they need to act quickly and hire Norv Turner, (after he gets fired.) Norv is a classic, "bad HC, great coordinator. Just take a gander at Wade Phillips. Norv has developed Rivers into a top QB and his veteran coaching skills would fit perfectly with Rex and this offense. Schott quakes in his boots when he calls plays bc he's young and afraid.

You people know that Rex (and almost EVERY coach/player) don't just offer these soundbites (unless it's on Twitter) randomly right?

So yea, keep complaining about how Rex and every you don't like needs to shut up.

You Jet fans blaming Schotty for Sanchez's failures are ridiculous and just playing into your normal, oblivious, scapegoat mentality. It's the players, not the play callers.

So if the Jets fire Shotty and Sanchez still shows no improvement, who will the Jets blame then? You are asking the man to shoot at a target 500 feet away with a shotgun.

Even though the Jets are horrible this year, they will make the playoffs.

The Titans will lose in Houston. The Bengals will lose to the Ravens. Either the Broncos or the Raiders will lose. And the Jets will beat the Dolphins, thus securing a playoff berth. From there, the Jets will travel to Houston where they will easily beat the struggling Houston Texans. Then they will face the Patriots in Foxboro, where they will likely get crushed.

What will occur is that the Jets will do just well enough to ensure that no shake-up on the staff occurs, thus guaranteeing that they will never get over the hump. Sigh.

Bill Callahan is a monster on the Xs and Os and a good teacher. The Bills wanted to hire Schottenheimer, and the 49ers hired Jimmy Raye who was the Jets RB coach, because they liked the Jets running game. Bill Callahan was the man behind that running game, not those other coaches.

Schottenheimer was dumb for not taking the Bills job that year. Only 32 Head Coaching jobs when you have the opportunity, you jump on it. Especially with a franchise like The Bills. Good fan base, home field advantage, and front office who wants to win.

Could Rex shut up already. He said the same thing weeks ago when the Jets threw the ball all the time, he kept talking about focusing on running the ball. And here they are throwing the ball 60 times again. Now he says the same thing again, they'll run the ball from now on.

This guy has less credibility than people in the Raiders front office that try to shoot down everything Schefter reports.
