Getty ImagesWe heard a rumor about Vikings cornerback Benny Sapp being arrested Friday afternoon, but were not able to confirm the story and ultimately didn’t post anything about it.
The Vikings decided to address the issue on Friday night after the story took a life of its own locally.
“We’ve been made aware that Benny Sapp received a citation, was not arrested and fully cooperated with the authorities,” the team said in a statement via Judd Zulgad of espn1500.com.
Sapp essentially replaced Chris Cook in the Vikings lineup after Cook’s own brush with the law.
Minneapolis police told Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Sapp was handcuffed after “chest bumping” a Children’s Hospital guard that was trying to stop Sapp in a parking lot of the hospital.
(No, not this Children’s Hospital.)

Chest bumping in a children’s hospital parking lot? He may not have been arrested, but there must be some kind of a story worth hearing!
Somewhere Jim Schwartz is proud
Who’s Benny Sapp?
Wow! If ONLY he could be that physical in bump and run coverage.. maybe he would be an affective defender!
Sorry. Fat-fingered. Meant to say “effective” of course…
Alright, that childrens hospital link just made my day.
Only the Vikings have to release a statement when a player is not arrested.
Seriously, vikes can’t even drop a kid off at a hospital to visit his mom without getting arrested…
This stinks of a quick payoff. The queens can’t afford any bad press that might serve to derail the unwanted tax payer funded stadium that’s being unjustly jammed down the throats of the MN citizens. Of course having things willingly jammed down their throats is normal for the Helga hat wearing gender bender purple excrement balls. Wink Wink
Can this season end…..You guys are killing me
Did he have a boat hitched to his Escalade?

Hang in there, you only have one more to go till it’s next season.
insert Raiders joke here.
No, he was not arrested. He just physically assaulted a parking guard, was hand cuffed by police officers, taken down to the station, was placed in a jail cell and held for some time-but he was NOT arrested. Nice spin Zygi-just as talks are heating up for the new stadium.
You never hear about Packer players getting into trouble with the law. Their players actually know how to behave. Their fans do as well. Green Bay is a city without law trouble.
Sapp is a punk and should be booted off the team. he almost cost the vikings a couple games a couple years ago.
Benny trying to be a big tough guy. Actually Benny, that sort of intentional physical intimidation tactic means that you are something entirely other than a tough guy.
