Bad news for Jets: Texans resting key starters

AP

Texans coach Gary Kubiak talked all week about playing to win this week against the Titans.

His actions on Sunday morning indicate a different approach.

The Texans declared Arian Foster, Owen Daniels, and Johnathan Joseph among others inactive for Sunday’s game against Tennessee. None of the above have serious injuries.

This is disastrous news for the Jets, who will be eliminated if the Titans win against Houston. Of course, they have no one to blame but themselves for this predicament.

Texans receiver Andre Johnson is active for Houston. They want him to get some work in before the playoffs after missing time with a hamstring injury.

Ultimately, it’s a savvy move by Houston. The Jets could be the toughest matchup for the team next week and this will help to eliminate the Jets.

Kubiak also doesn’t have to give anything away in case Houston has a rematch with Tennessee next week. Kubiak will take his chances facing the Titans or a possible matchup against the Bengals or Raiders.

  1. If the Titans Texans game ends up being the difference maker in keeping the Jets out of the playoffs, we will definitely be hearing from Rex Ryan later.

Although, Rex you had your chance.

  2. Who Dey! And you all thought the Bengalswould be lucky to win 3 games this year. Shows how much you know.

  3. The titans will be their worse match up next week. Why play a team that you already played twice and is going to get a free game plan going into next week.

Istill think the Texans game is a playoffs game for them, eliminating the worse case next week

  4. this is a jets bash/hate site i see more stories about this team or directed to this team more than any other

  5. Well if there’s a silver lining for the Jets fans it’s that if they miss the playoffs, Rex will have to give a full refund to all the season ticket holders.

At least that’s how I understood his championship guarantee. Otherwise it was just empty words, and we would never get that from Rex Ryan…right?

  6. @stevincinci…you just make sure the bungles win today. Dont worry about who said what. You will witness thousands of steeler fans at the bungles game today rooting for you. Dont let us down!

  7. Very smart move by Kub’s, rest the starter’s and get ready for the play off run. Sexy Rexy had his chances, but choose to stay with a loser at the Q/B position. I just hope they have a Waaaaaaaabulance in Miami ready for Rex, along with a nice freshly fried hot bucket of crow and pizza for him to cry in. But he will win the Super Bowl for the fifth or sixth time in a row next year. Just ask him, and he will confirm it.

  8. Jets don’t deserve to be in the playoffs anyway. Just like last year and the year before. I don’t care if they went on a run. They suck.

  9. Some times you are the dog, sometimes you are the tree.

They got into the play-offs like this now it may get them back. I guess what goes around comes around

I live in Cincy, and NOBODY here thought the Bengals would win more than 4 or 5 games this year.

  11. Isnt it ironic that rex ryan took credit when the jets backed into the playoffs 2 years ago because of teams resting starters and now he needs houston to NOT rest starters. I love it!

  12. Kind of ironic that in recent years the Jets needed teams to rest their starters to get in, now it’s the other way around.

Ah well, Happy New Year Jets fans, better luck next year!!!

  13. Ruh roh, Raggy!

Let me just ask this, the Texans are already on their third string QB. How are they resting him?

  14. Remember when the Jets backed in when the Colts rested their starters two years ago? Karma.

Awe.. poor Jets team, coaches, and fans can’t handle the criticisms… Not like you asked for it or anything. GO DOLPHINS.

it’s not the site or fans guy, even the jets fans you see posting here are hard on Rexy….. because he serves himself up as a joke every week…

doesn’t matter what team he’s on…. as long as he continues to be a clown, he’ll be a target…. end of story
