This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. A player busts his hump fighting for a touchdown, makes the touchdown happen and because his raises his shirt and says “Happy New Year” to the fans, that are paying the salary of all the players as well as the referees; what’s the problem?

I think that the referees should start to be fined for mistaken calls when they are challenged and overturned…that should be the way it is, if the refs can do it to players…why shouldn’t be the same for refs when they make a mistake??????

The point of your comment was that Johnson will be fined and Ryan was not disciplined for his actions. That’s not true. I don’t care how much it is in comparison to his salary. You can’t just go around spouting off false statements.

Listen, I know the guy is a knucklehead and under the terms of the rule (which I think is so petty and stupid), he deserves a fine.

That said, the NFL is so hypocritical about its “prop” rule for celebrations. Why if Johnson fined for using a prop or excessive celebration by showing his t-shirt yet, then why is it not a penalty when a player scores a TD and dunks the ball over the goal post? Isn’t the goal post used as a prop? Isn’t that excessive under terms of the rule? Think about it.

And let’s talk about the Lambeau Leap. Is the player in question not using the fans as a prop by leaping into the stands? Isn’t that excessive under terms of the rule?

Yes, I know calling a penalty in those cases is ridiculous, but look at the rule. THAT is what is ridiculous.

If this were Johnson’s first offense, calling a penalty on him for that would just be damn not right.

How about eliminating the stupid rule? That makes too much sense.

The celebration rules are really archaic. That said, the rules ARE in place, and if little Stevie can’t follow them and continues to hurt the TEAM with selfish and egotistical penalties, then he’s dumbest player in the league bar none. The Buffs should initiate a Code Red on Stevie one night until he gets it.

Is there a more selfish player in the league than Stevie Johnson? Does he even realize that someone threw the ball or others blocked their arses off to give the QB time to throw that perfect pass?
