McCoy inactive, Jones-Drew should win rushing title

LeSean McCoy AP

The Eagles talked about LeSean McCoy winning the rushing title during the week, but it was all talk.

McCoy is inactive on Sunday. With Arian Foster also out in Houston, Maurice Jones-Drew has an insurmountable lead in the rushing title race. MJD was very likely to win the title anyhow with a big lead and a matchup against the Colts.

Frank Gore would have to make up more than 200 rushing yards to catch Jones-Drew on Sunday.

“Shady” finishes the season with a career high 273 carries and 1,309 rushing yards. His reception total decreased this year, so he actually gained more yards from scrimmage in 2010. The big difference was that McCoy scored 20 total times, which leads the NFL.

Sending him back on the field at less than 100% in the final game didn’t make a lot of sense.

Both RB’s had a good season for bad teams. Fantasy owners would beg to differ.

And to think people had questions about MJD and if his knee would hold up at the begging of the year. Not only did it hold up but going into this game his 318 carries leads the league. Jones-Drew is one of the few workhorse backs left in the league.

If Fat Andy and Pass Happy Marty had a clue how to use Shady, he’d be pushing 2000 yards. That kind of thing doesn’t happen though when you drop back to pass 55-60 times a game.

Another arm chair coach who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Philly also ranks 15th in the league in pass attempts and 8th in the league at rushing attempts.

    Through week 17 McCoy ranks:

5th in the NFL in carries at 273.
The players with more carries than McCoy are:
    Gore 275, Foster 278, Turner 284, and MJD 318.

Not to mention McCoy gets plenty of touches in the passing game.

Do you really know what you’re talking about? The stats don’t support you at all.
