Yates checks out physically, but Delhomme will remain in the game

Houston's T.J. Yates looks for a receiver against the Colts during an NFL football game in Indianapolis Reuters

Texans rookie quarterback T.J. Yates left Sunday’s game for the locker room early with an undisclosed injury.

He returned to the sideline quickly and is available to return to the game, but Texans coach Gary Kubiak will keep backup Jake Delhomme in the game.

It’s [Coach] Kubiak’s decision to play Jake. Yates has physically checked out, but Jake is playing,” a Texans spokesman said in a statement to PFT.

Yates could re-enter the game if necessary, but the Texans are trying to avoid that. The offense has stagnated since Yates left the game, but a big run by Ben Tate set up a field goal early in the third quarter.

The Titans and Texans are tied at 13, with Tennessee and the Jets’ playoff hopes hanging in the balance.

They’re better off with Delhomme for the playoffs.

You’re better off ceasing to post on PFT if you truly believe that

Delhomme will get you a one and out. He’s a great guy but over the hill by miles and miles.

Jake Delhomme dinked and donked worse than TJ Yates today so why would anyone really think Jake Delhomme was a better option than TJ Yates? Jake is as bad as I thought but it does show the bigger problem in Houston which is the recieving corp. Outside of Andre Johnson, if I was the GM, all of those guys would be traded or cut this offseason, whichever comes first.
