well, i dont think the option itself is the best fit, i personally would add elements of it, but i would do most plays out of the shotgun for Tebow.

I think turner, like wade Phillips, has proven he is one of the games best coordinators. Period.

well forget Turner to Jacksonville, but i think he would’ve been great because while i agree Turner isnt a great head coach, he is good with QBs

Nice history lesson, Marty. Here’s another one that’s closer to home.

In 2003, the Jaguars hired a little known coordinator with no head coaching experience, Jack Del Rio. And the rest is history.

Let me remind you that history is 69-73, 1-2 in playoffs.

Since you believe “guys rarely do as well the second time around”, let me direct you to Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden. In fact, Tom Coughlin did fairly well in his next stint. Or try Bill Parcels, Mike Holmgren, Dan Reeves, Dick Vermeil, and Don Shula – all multiple Super Bowl appearances with more than one team.

When the Steelers needed a new head coach, they tried to hire Joe Paterno away from Penn State. He turned them down. So they turned to plan B: a little known coordinator with no head coaching experience, Chuck Noll. And the rest is history.

I don’t need a retread. Those guys rarely do as well the second time around. Just get the right guy.

Lets bring in another untested coordinator and roll the dice. No thanks. This franchise has had enough of the unknown – from the fans, from the players, from the coaches, from the GM and finally from the owners. We need a stable force in Jacksonville with a known history. So far all we have is MJD and the mascot.

I’ll take a forlorned Andy Reid with a whiz kid OC. Or bring back Coughlin. I’d even give Martz another shot at HC. Give us something.

But in the name of Lombardi, dont let Gene Smith anywhere near the selection committee. We dont need the equivalent of a Mount Union wide receiver as HC.

Agree with meatsweat: Not sure why O’Brien is so eager to leave for a HC position. The offensive iron will always be hot in NE as long as Brady is at the helm.
He has 4 yrs of pro experience, only two of which were as a coordinator.
Learn under BB for a couple more seasons and ride the franchises success. By then you will be the hottest commodity in the league.

Would add that the amount of brain power that has left NE is amazing – though most have failed, it has still been something that NE has consistently overcome – would be very interesting to see an analysis of total coaching losses by franchise – seems like the Pats would lead by a wide margin

first off, i do NOT see Denver and Jacksonville doing a trade for Tebow, though i think Tebow would be good in Jacksonville (especially if they got a coach who knows his skill set and works with it to best fit him), i think they go with a coach who fits in with Gabbert, IF Norv Turner is fired, then i think that’s the guy the Jags get!! Turner has worked with young QBs.

Marty Schottenheimer?? He isn’t coming back. Brian Billick? He had a great defense, what did they ever accomplish offensively? Even his Super Bowl year the offense was horrible. What other names do any of you want to throw out? Don Shula? Steve Marriucci? John Madden? Jimmy Johnson?

I like the idea of an offensive coordinator. Is it a gamble? Yes. But going after coaches who burned out, had some success, or no success but has a name to him isn’t the way to go.

I unfortunately have to watch the Jets every week and I gotta say Brian Schottenheimer could be a good fit. He’s got overrated crap in NY and still finds a way to get points on the board.

Looking at the Pats success this year, I would give none of it to the OC. He drove the ground game into the, well, the ground

I think the list is pretty good so far. No real red flags. no real drama, but like the Jags no real excitement.

We aren’t getting some big name coach. Cowher isn’t coming back. Gruden isn’t coming back. Fisher isn’t coming here either. A good offensive coordinator is the way to go. And give the Tebow crap a rest! He’s come crashing back to earth with his real NFL talent on display.

O’Brien will be interviewed by the Chiefs during the bye week or sooner should the Pats lose before then. Josh McDaniels will be interviewed as soon as the HC is settled on in KC.

Fisher will be in next week for that unless he is signed first.

I don’t quite get all of this love for O’Brien. His play calling and schemes have been generic from the get-go, besides TB12 is the real o-coordinator in New England.
