Schotty is ready to get out of dodge with the Jets. I heard Jet fan say he’s too conservative. Maybe that is true, but if he is conservative I’m pretty sure that has everything to do Sanchez, don’t you think. Either way whomever the Jags get it ABSOLUTELY needs to be the right one. There is no room for error anymore.

Well, since Schottenheimer isn’t black, I can’t think of one reason they would interview him. Has any NFL team ever won a Superbowl with a Schottenheimer on the staff? I don’t think so.

Seriously, this isn’t the hire to whip up interest in Jacksonville. They need someone who can help a young qb and Schotty Jr hasn’t been able to get consistent results from Sanchez.

The only possible reason I can see is the “Major League” scenario — field a team so awful that it enables you to move to another city.

Great coordinators sometimes become mediocre head coaches. Mediocre coordinators never become great head coaches.

Sure, because any time you can hire an offensive coordinator with a mediocre resume who’s current unit has regressed markedly every year he’s been in charge of it, that’s a move you absolutely have to make.

Last time I looked Schottenheimer hadn’t thrown one interception, fumbled any snaps or choked under pressure this year. Seems like Jets fans are looking for a scapegoat when in fact the problem may be the guy who lines up behind center. Its not play selection its play execution. Sanchez may not be the answer? The answer may have been prowling the sidelines in Indianapolis this past season?

Does anyone think he gets an interview or even the Jets O coordinators job if his last name wasn’t Schottenheimer? How many other coaches & exes sons are working as coaches, scouts or in the front offices around the league? That, my friends, is called the good old boys club. And you all say the minority Rooney Rule is unfair and not needed.

I remember several years ago (2002?) a guy named Sean Payton was a much maligned offensive coordinator for the NY Giants who was eventually stipped of his duties mid-season by then Head Coach Jim Fassel.

He ended up with a head coaching job himself and seems to have done pretty well in the job.

The NY Jets’ biggest issue is #6. Not the playcalling.

Brian Schottenheimer could be that next great HC…
