The Rooney Rule technically states that teams must interview MINORITY candidates for head coaching positions. It doesn’t have to be black. For example, when the Panthers interviewed and subsequently hired Ron Rivera, they passed the Rooney Rule because Rivera is Latino and counts as a minority.

He is a damn good coach and the 9ers would have to face his team twice. Having said that, I HOPE he ends up elsewhere. -Chargers, Miami or KC so pretty much anyone in the AFC. The NFC is tough enough!

He has quality ends on hand, and should be able to find DT talent. The system he brings won’t depend on how LB picks, so they can address the complementary parts to Laurinaitis later. Bradford may turn out to be great, but the jury has not even started deliberating yet due to the teams overall lack of talent and his propensity to miss playing time.

The bad news for Fisher is that the team needs to be rebuilt on both sides of the ball. The good news, a traditionally weak division, lower expectations, and a smaller market media which I promise he loves.

Only better scenario is probably San Diego, and that job’s not open. ( YET )
