Getty ImagesIt looks like the Texans will avoid having to turn to Jake Delhomme for their first-ever playoff game.
Coach Gary Kubiak said that quarterback T.J. Yates threw well on Monday, one day after he was forced out of the Texans’ season finale with the Titans. Yates suffered a separated left shoulder, but, per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Kubiak expects to have Yates in the starting lineup against the Bengals.
Yates was 4-for-4 for 47 yards before being forced out of the game in the first quarter. Delhomme went 18-of-28 for 211 yards in his first NFL action of the season. His performance was good enough that the Texans probably feel comfortable turning to him should Yates be forced out of Saturday’s contest.

That is great news. I saw more than enough of Jake Delhomme last Sunday.
yates with a seperated shoulder is not good..velocity will not be there on the ball.. unless it was his non throwing shoulder?? delhomme you cant be mad at him his first action of the year just coming in..he does have superbowl and playoff experience..he did take em down for the last td which they went for 2.its not his fault the snap went towards clearlake!
delhomme may be the nicest, most decent guy in the nfl but he’s one of the last qb’s i’d want starting for my team in a playoff game.
@rohlo
It was his non-throwing shoulder, but I have a feeling if he gets sandwiched game over. Jake Delhomme is nothing but a turnover waiting to happen.
tj, Jake, Matt, brett, it doesn’t matter. texans are going down Sunday.
i thought it was really funny during the game when yates went into the locker room, the announcers showed the cluster of qbs(schaub,leinert, coach knapp, delhomme, and garcia) saying that there is a 100 years of expierince between all those qbs but yet they just want the rookie to get back out there and play
It was a bogus pi call that helped them beat cincy the first time.
