It looks like the Texans will avoid having to turn to Jake Delhomme for their first-ever playoff game.
Coach Gary Kubiak said that quarterback T.J. Yates threw well on Monday, one day after he was forced out of the Texans’ season finale with the Titans. Yates suffered a separated left shoulder, but, per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Kubiak expects to have Yates in the starting lineup against the Bengals.
Yates was 4-for-4 for 47 yards before being forced out of the game in the first quarter. Delhomme went 18-of-28 for 211 yards in his first NFL action of the season. His performance was good enough that the Texans probably feel comfortable turning to him should Yates be forced out of Saturday’s contest.
