The players have to fit the system, not the other way around. If you have the talent to win football games and your not winning? It’s the coaching or the system or both. In this case it’s both. Switch to a 3-4 zone coverage scheme. It’s obvious that our personnel cannot play man. That ended when Nhamdi left. Stanford “Burnt Toast” Routt needs all the help he can get, play zone. He was holding other team’s top receivers like a damn straight jacket, not in a good way either.

To me this looks alot better to me if we are in a 3-4 in zone coverage……BUT ALL CONTINGENT UPON THE PLAYERS BEING ABLE TO PLAY IN THAT SYSTEM.
I think with a few key FA additions, Draft Picks, listed below, along with some solid coaching we would be better off.

This is one of the worse Raiders defenses I have seen in a long time man and chuck was the weak ling back when gruden was in town as well.

We use to get owned by screen plays and the ones by the Patriots in the snow bowl. Then the D got run on by the likes of the Steelers Qb Kordell Stewart and Aaron Brooks when he was with the saints for come back wins. No difference then or now with Chuck B who let Shawn Alexander have a game setting record of 266 yards on a short week game in Seattle. I couldn’t Believe this guy was back. I am not saying Ryan was a amazing because LT use to own us as others like KC’s Priest Holmes.

When we had good D we had a 70 million dollar QB sitting on the bench eating big macs and what a good D do if the Offense can’t do their part. Just kinda appeared that when our D was ranked nicely the coaching staff and the offense were in shambles.

Raider Nation hold on lets give Hugh a chance if he doesn’t work out we will see soon enough but Remember what Gruden had to over come butting heads with Al and he cleaned house after 1998 after going 8-8 with Jeff George as qb and Harvey Williams as the RB.

Go Raiders for 2012 !!! IMO I see good things to come, but this 2011 season nearly gave me a heart attack due to all the last minute comebacks could of should of been in the post season.

One game in particular that stands out to me that sumed up his stint as a youth coach, is the playoff game he was in. In the middle of the game he left the field and literally hopped over into the stand and started screaming and yelling at a woman. Saying he would knock her out in front of everyone there. It took a fellow coach jumping into the stands to get him back onto the field. His whole sideline was so shocked at what transpired that they lost all focus on the game and ended up losing. It was sad that the officials who saw the whole incident decided to let him back on the sideline. The woman ended up being one of his children’s mother.

As a coach who spends countless hours coaching children, I lost respect for the guy that day. Perhaps he had a bad day? Still doesn’t make up for what happened in front of young players (12-14 year olds.) I doubt many people here will take this story as true. I just know what I’ve seen out of him that whole season.

As I stated above, just because you’re a Hall Of Famer, does not make you a Hall Of Fame coach.

Sorry, but the linebacker position in the NFL is being played poorer than ever because too many ball clubs care about their linebackers becoming hip-fluid athletes dropping into pass coverage because there a pass catchers in the open field!!!

Why not give less breathing room for the quarterback so he can throw less and give more chippy hits to quarterbacks and pass catchers so the routes of the offense are disturbed!!! It seems like defensive coordinators would rather make big plays rather (I say this benevolently) than inflict pain on offensive players!!!

Linebackers want to HIT people!!! Make schemes that designate them to inflict painful hits!!!
