That isn’t the point (what he serves,) it is what he faces. It is not “up to” 10 years, it is a min-man of 10 years. Yes, he could get the minimum and only serve 85%, but unless he can give up someone higher on the food chain, or some others on his level, he is facing at least a 10 year sentence. The judge isn’t allowed, by law, to go any lower without a substantial assistance agreement from the DA. The article is incorrect.

The article says that he “could face up to 10 years in prison…”

Actually that charge carries a minimum mandatory of 10 years up to life in prison. The only way to receive less than 10 is a motion filed from the government called a 5k1, which is “substantial assistance” to the authorities, such as agreeing to testify against others.
It will be interesting to see if there is anything he can even give them that will save him from the 10 years.

Sam Hurd and Miles Austin battled for the #2 WR spot along side Roy Williams for much of his time in Dallas. He had a ton of talent and potential. He was just as good as Miles, and it was really a coin flip of who ended up getting the spot. Miles made the most of it with that game in Kansas City a few years back. I guess Sam was just more concerned with other things at the time, and not focusing on football like Miles. So yes, he was a huge waste of talent… moron, etc…
