The Packers will not put the franchise tag on Flynn, if they did that who in the right mind would trade for this guy with that high of a price tag on him. The better bet is GB working out a good contract with him that some other team approves of already and then trading him or just letting him go the free agent route and taking the comp pick for him.

I personally thought that Barkley was a better QB than Jones but I also think the kid from Oklahoma state was a better QB than both of them.

Ok so first off jones isn't even better than the a and m kid or atleast has not proved he is yet, but that's not saying he can't be better but it is really tough to tell when these guys come out of extreme spread in college. If everyone who could come did jones would be my 5 th qb and only their cuz the dude from okst is just to old to draft that high.

For the sooner fan who thinks this kid is better than the USC kid, don't be a homer bro, a lot of reAlly smart people think the USC kid is almost as good as luck.

Now as for jones staying I think it's great. And I can assure you it isn't for draft stock. It's because he wants to finish school and he truly enjoys being there. Watch any interview with the young man and you can clearly see money and fame is NOT what jones is about.

I think the biggest loser will be whoever figures they are not getting a qb in the draft now and signs Flynn to a big deal. Flynn is a good back up, but he is not now nor will he ever be a big time nfl starter. He just doesn't have the skills. Sure against a really bad defense who was sitting starters a lot of the game with perhaps the best skill players in the nfl around him in a game with zero pressure he can perform, but when he is made the guy somewhere he will fail because he doesn't have the tools. And before people start throwing stats all around, Kevin kolb had the greatest start to a career production wise in nfl history, when he was given the Job and the real pressure was on he folded because he like Flynn is just not a big time player. I really hope Washington gives Flynn a whole lot of money because that will take them out of the hunt for a couple seasons much like cardinals this season with kolb.

Yeah your Vikings beat the Skins (who were injured too and minus our best offensive threats from suspension). We have 12 draft picks (partly because we gave you Donovan McTrash) in the next draft and the second or third most profitable organization in ALL of sports. So yeah tout the laughable Vikings. We are just one of the most prestigious teams in NFL history. You all need to worry about not wasting the career of one of the greatest RBs to ever grace the field and keeping your team in a dump of a state that should be kicked from the Union. The Vikings COULD NEVER hold a candle to the Redskins even with our slump.

Don't be surprised if a team pulls a Ponder in the draft -- which means.. Some team will likely take Tannehill in the first round when he was slated to go in the 2nd-3rd. Personally I don't believe that Tannehill is a good QB, much less a franchise one. Hell I'd rather draft Cousins of Michigan State or Nick Foles of Arizona.

In my opinion, Tannehill = Jesse Palmer/Josh Heupel

trollhammer20 says:Jan 5, 2012 10:18 PM

Schneider has probably already been on the phone to his buddies in GB. You watch. They’ll franchise Flynn and trade him to Seattle. Probably for a deal where they get Seattle’s 2nd round pick and move up to Seattle’s spot in the first round (11-12, depending on the coin toss with KC), while Seattle gets Flynn and the 28-32 pick the Packers will wind up with.

------------------------

No way GB gets that much even if they do take the chance of tagging Flynn, especially after how the Cassell & Kolb deals turned out recently. And in neither of those deals did the team give up as much as you're proposing to get their QB. Plus, both Cassel and Kolb had much more experience/game tape to go on than the two games Flynn has started.

These cautionary trades plus the Rob Johnson & Scott Mitchell deals of the past, another couple of QBs that road a few impressive victories to huge contracts but never proved to be worthy, will curb the Flynn appeal a bit.

The other thing I'm sure teams will consider when evaluating Flynn is neither of his opponents were full out preparing for him when they played the Packers and there wasn't any real game tape to study on him. No one knows how he'll do once D coordinators get some film on him and make a plan of attack. He also has played with essentially no pressure. No one expected anything of him going against New England last year and this year's game against Detroit didn't mean anything to the Packers one way or the other.

Should be interesting...

As a Texas and Cowboys fan…I hope he does go to Washington….just ask the Horns defense about Tannehill

In all fairness to Tannehill, he's been playing QB for less than two years. Before that he was a WR. With the amount he has already progressed scouts believe he has serious potential.

So much for the great QB draft class.

This is about the third year or so that it was thought to be a very good draft for QBs at the beginning of the college season, only to fizzle because of QBs not declaring or disappointing play.

As a side note, Kirk Cousins may be the Andy Dalton of this draft. Doesn't have the biggest ceiling (slightly above average arm), but smart QB who knows where to go with the ball. May be a nice pick for a WCO team in the 2nd rd. that looks to address another position first (Redskins come to mind if they pass on QB in the first ... could see them go with a FA and then a 2nd rd. pick like Cousins).

It's probably the best decision for him. I like Landry Jones a fair amount as a pro prospect, but he had his up and down moments this year, and his footwork, even for that scheme, looked a bit shaky at times. This year, he was a clear 3-6 QB, as Luck was clearly 1, and RG3 will likely end up being 2, as he's a dynamic QB that looks to be a passer first. Next year, Landry Jones can challenge for the top spot. I like Barkley enough, but Jones has the tools and skills to pass Barkley.

I'm not so sure that Tannehill isn't a better prospect than Jones or Barkley anyways (and maybe even RG3), though. Tannehill's got the size, arm strength, character, accuracy, and mobility of a NFL QB, just needs time to learn. Outside of Luck, I think all of these QB's need at least a year of watching (whether or not they get it is another question), but Tannehill reminds me a bit of a more athletic Matt Schaub.

Good. Means Seattle won't wind up with him. I was a fan early in the year, but he regressed to the point where I couldn't imagine having him as the future of the franchise I root for.

Schneider has probably already been on the phone to his buddies in GB. You watch. They'll franchise Flynn and trade him to Seattle. Probably for a deal where they get Seattle's 2nd round pick and move up to Seattle's spot in the first round (11-12, depending on the coin toss with KC), while Seattle gets Flynn and the 28-32 pick the Packers will wind up with.

Matt Damon, er Matt Flynn may or may not be a franchise QB. A couple of games no matter how good or bad can't predict that. IE. Kevin Kolb. One thing is for sure though, with college QBs dropping out, Matt Flynn and the Packers are in for a huge payday because of his great performances in limited action. Teams are going to bite hard on this guy.
