What gets me about TOmlin is how he let Ben dictate whether to play or not. No player not named Cutler will ever say they won't play. Tomlin is a good coach. BUt like I said, just because he won a SB doesnt mean he possesses a wisdom beyond his young age. He showed immense foolishness going for a marginal increase in probability of improving the seeding of his team with a hobbled Ben and making him further hobbled in the process and drastically affecting the chances of winning more than one or two playoff games

i think it could be a game the Steelers defense has to win , rather than the offense. Keep Tebow in the pocket, then throw that zone blitz. He simply winds up, and gets the ball knocked out of his hand due to mechanics. (Bills scored a td on that). I bet Pittsburgh can get exactly one score or turnover on just such a play - he winds up, he's a lefty, he turns his back as he is rolling, and doesn't have the gun to throw from the positions he releases at.

But if he runs and gets to the second level, watch out. This could be a closer game then a lot of people think.

We maybe overlooking something my solid Steel brethern. And that is the possibility that he gets hammered in Sunday's game and really really further injures the ankle and goes off on a golf cart. Denver D will be coming after him with fire and brimstone. Let's see our O-line put on a stellar performance and keep #7's colors nice and clean the whole game. We will need him in round 2 !

check out the other sports media outlets.. its a consensus, that Tomlin played Ben appropriately as if the Ravens had lost any of those games, Stillers needed the win to get the #2 bye. If I recall, Batch did just fine playing in his place.

Ben plays with a lot of injuries.. like the time he had his nose broken.. kept playing..

whereas.. like in chicago... the QB hurts his finger and comes out.

heck even Colt McCoy tried to keep playing saying to the coach he's fine..

as for the guy way up in the comment section about placing a grand on Broncos.. yeah.. you got money to burn... or just plain a 'gambler'... Hope you have money for the kids school meals..your mortgage.. your car payment, your internet bill.. then again.. hope you don't pay your internet so we don't have to read your stupid posts

infectorman, YOU talk about homers? I doubt the prevailing expert opinion would be the Steelers winning without Ben...no matter how balanced you think they are.

The Steelers barely (8 points) beat NE on your turf with a healthy Roethlisberger. They just barely beat the likes of powerhouse Cleveland, and this time, you would face NE at home, where your guys have had just SO MUCH success.

I notice a decent amount of you take Bens injuries for granted. Sure, you may be tired of hearing about them, but does that make them any less real? Big tree fall hard and he goes down more times than I care to watch. He is gonn retire in the near future with health like this. Then all Steeler fans who dont like Ben will begin to realize how much of an asset he is and continues to be season after season.

Enjoy it while hes playing.

You people that just blurt out stupidity on here kill me. As stated, Tomlin is going no where, unless you mean after the Super Bowl win going to Disney World. Also as stated before me, clearly with his record he has proven great worth. A lot of coaches on good teams go full careers with out a Super Bowl appearance. He has 2 in five years and one ring already.

I am not sure what to think about Ben's statement. The high ankle sprain has kept more than a couple players in this league, out of more than one game this year alone. Also his history of playing injured is real, and makes him a warrior. Does, or has he embellished here and there, maybe, I cannot be sure. That being said, he is still the toughest QB in the league and one of the best also. I would take a tough player that comes to play week in week out, and is capable of winning the big game, over most of the so called elite QB's that have great numbers but cannot get to or win the Big game. That is after all what the game is played for. Even the great Dan Marino, got to but could not win the big game. No doubt he had more talent than Terry Bradshaw, but Bradshaw played huge and came through in the big game like no other. YOU DOUBTERS AND HATERS SIT BACK AND SEE HOW MANY MORE TIMES BEN DOES THIS, BEFORE HE HANGS UP HIS CLEATS AND YOU IMBECILES HAVE LITTLE OR NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT. That, ( you mental midgets being silent) will be a great day for humanity, also anyone who has the brain capacity above that of a gnat.

Go STEELERS the Quest for 7 has begun.

@nesuperfan
They should rest him against the only team they really have a shot at beating without him, Denver.

*******************************************

Kinda a blanket statement there from a NE Homer.
Remember, it wasn't Dennis Dixon and/or the Steeler Offense that had the primary role in defeating our Pats earlier this year, it was the PITT defense and alot of press coverage and pressure on Brady.
If BB/Obrien doesn't account for that and make the necessary adjustments, we'll be in for another long afternoon should Pitt come Foxboro.

You bet there is a BIG drop-off from Dixon to Ben.....but the Steelers are a well balanced club with an evil defense and can give the Pats mucho trouble

Living in pittsburgh I have been saying ben exaggerates all his injuries constantly. Especially when there is a big game coming up. ever since the "broken toes" thing I've called it. For the record he is not even a good qb. Average is all id say for him. 21 tds 14 ints just screams mediocrity. He had 1 good season were he threw over 30 tds but other than that he sucks on a good TEAM

I agree with your list I just want to clarify something: Timmons' year wasn't so great because he played OLB for several games. But don't be fooled: He's elite. He was the best ILB in the league last year, which is why their Run D was so potent.

Blockers could not get off of him when they made it to the second level. Most of the time, they couldn't even get on him, so he would end up making the tackle.

"it’s impossible to ignore the possibility that Ben is simply milking this one for all it’s worth..."

I don't think he needs to considering how high ankle sprains work.

If a player suffers one in game one, he normally sits out for 2 weeks, comes back for one half, sits out another week, plays a game and a half, re-aggravates it...plays the rest of the season at a diminished capacity.

It's the most nagging injury.

It's clear that it's affecting his play, too. He was in the midst of a gem in the first game against Cleveland, and then he got injured and came back and put too much air under his passes.

Ben overthrows Wallace on the deep ball a lot, but he normally nails the 20-25 yard strikes with impressive precision. He's been overthrowing those every time now.

Tomlin is in a long line of coaches with outdated neanderthal thinking. Oh if the QB can play, then play him. What about thinking strategically for the long term instead of a short term fix? If you played Batch in the Browns game, the Steelers are better off whether they get the bye or not. Ben would have gotten 2 or 3 weeks of rest making that ankle condition a whole lot better. In the case of playing Ben , you are talking about a week less in either case. It's not like the chances of Batch losing the game to a team like the Browns compared to Ben is a whole lot less especially when that probability factor is mitigated by the chances that Bengals had to beat the Ravens.

Ben's method is being such a drama queen cry baby that if he was hurt (by pro football standards) everyone will just think it is more limping for the cameras.

Ben exaggerates his injuries to the point of annoyance. He is by far, the most open professional athlete as far as expressing what injuries or pain he has/is feeling at any point in time.

Great QB no doubt, but such a drama queen.
