Its not the Palmer trade that should get Hue fired as much as it is his lack of control over Chuck Bresnahan's thunderdome mook-like running of the defense. Also, the other HUGE reason for Jackson to be let go is his running of the offensive line. I mean he ran the o-line with the effectiveness of Roseanne Barr after a three day bender. How could he not see that the running game was SO MUCH BETTER when Satele was injured and Wisniewski was starting.
You can't blame that on taking a chance like the Palmer trade.
You can't blame it on Chuck Bresnahan.
It was simple, black-and-white, number's don't lie, hard truth facts!!
It happened toward the beginning of the season, and then it happened again!! around week 9. Satele went down with an injury, the running game improved. Satele came back from the injury, and the running game went back to being a lame duck. Despite cries from the press and the fans to make the change, Jackson was too stubborn for his own good.
And THAT is why Hue Jackson needs to go.

It's laughable so many of you feel Hue's biggest mistake was Palmer. If you got a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, would you pay $250 for a $75 tire? Or just walk 50 miles? What was he supposed to do, throw in the towel and start Boller? Pryor? Please. Yep, Palmer threw a lot of pics, to unproven receivers who couldn't catch with their hands, mis ran routes, etc. Sure a few were entirely his fault, but that receiving core was raw and as fragile as china and he STILL averged 305 yards passing a game and played well in key games like Detroit and San Diego to win those games. Clearly Hue's biggest mistakes were on the field terrible choices which cost his team wins, like the Detroit game. Throwing his team under the bus at season's end was a HUGE no no as well. His ego was NOT his amigo. HE did plenty of good things with the offense and hopefully he and Palmer get full seasons to prove their true worth. I think Carson Palmer, given the right weapons, consistent run game and protection, can still be an elite qb. Can't WAIT til next season.

Give him 1 more year to prove himself. Let him focus on being the HC and nothing more. He brought Palmer in and Palmer feels comfortable with him because of their history together. Taking Jackson away would just make the situation worse. Give Palmer and the offense a full year to get some chemistry. Try to upgrade that left side of the o-line. The rest of the offense has potential and was obviously good enough for Palmer, just need chemistry(hopefully). Probably gonna lose Bush, so make sure the back up is ready like he was. Hopefully McFadden stays healthy, if not then I say trade him after the year because I'm pretty sure he becomes a free agent in 2. So trade him for some picks(or just trade him right now for a couple picks. Maybe a first rounder and try to get Trent Richardson?). Offense is young and looks promising. Except at a long term QB. But hey, worry bout now. The time is now. What happened, happened. Palmer will be here for at least 2 more years. If he really turns out to be the worst mistake then you end contracts and have a high draft pick again. Hopefully draft someone opposite of Russel. But the time is NOW. Seymour, janikowski, lechler, and Palmer all are ready for now. Give them the teammates they need to make it happen. Or else in about 3 years your going to be back at 2-14 and have another "re-building" year.

Defense, ummm. Secondary was not very good. Backers were decent. D-line was very good when they wanted to be. Looked like they needed more conditioning. Defense was terrible in the 2nd half. They lost games , I believe, because they got tired. Condition them better. I think they have players for both 3-4 or 4-3. I think the line is built for 4-3. But backers for 3-4. In the 3-4, Wimbley could rush when they need it. So I think 3-4 is best jus because the backers couldn't handle the 4-3. I don't believe they NEED any upgrades at the line or backer positions(would be nice, but not a big issue). The D was pretty good at blitzing and takeaways. Secondary, ehh. Definetly need upgrades. Huff is decent, Giordan is underrated, Lito doesn't have it anymore but nice vet to have, rookies can't hang with elite receivers, and stanford routt, the biggest mistake the raiders did on defense was signing him to a contract. He is terrible, not good! they need to replace their corners. Leave huff, giordano as a role player in packages. But that secondary needs help. Not only players, but personel too. There were bright spots, but far more worse that showed the raiders D was not the best for certain opponents. Man on Calvin Johnson when the game is on the line and he killed already with deep passes? Fire bresnahan, fire Woodson, fire whoever you want Mckenzie. If your buddy Moss is truly someone you want with you, hire him as D-coordinator. And if Hue doesn't work out next year, or even halfway through this year, promote him to HC. Being in whoever you want on D. Just sure up that secondary and make sure the coaches have that D in the best coverage for the situation. Doesn't matter what your base defense is, you adjust to your opponents and the time.

There needs to be more DISCIPLINE on this team!!! I am happy Hue said what he said after the game. As a player, I would be heated to hear my coach say that but I know it's ultimately up to the players. Things need to change. Too many penalties, punish people for penalties, might sound stupid but you have tried everything. This team needs more discipline. You set records for it, you have nothing to lose. Try everything you can to fix the penalties situation.

As much as I want Gruden back, I doubt he will. Plus, thinking about that super bowl makes me hate him a little.

It seems like with the hiring of Reggie Mckenzie the Raider tradition, style, swagger, atmosphere, Al Davis' Raiders, it seems like all that is about to change. As a true fan, I don't want to see it change. As bad as the Raiders are, as stupid as they can be, even if they had a 0-16 record, I am still proud to call myself a Raider fan. I am proud to be a part of that stupidness and ridiculous play. I am proud of every little bit the Raiders stand for. From the worst to the best, I am proud. But I am also tired of losing and being the example of "what not to be". I wan to jus win baby again. Raider nation will never change, in our hearts. But do what you need to do to win Mckenzie. I am still young so I hope to see the Raiders be back to one of the elite teams like they used to be.

And if Hue Jackson is fired, then I say fire everyone on the staff and trade Palmer for what you can get. Start fresh. Keep the young players who have potential. But other than that. Start a new team. A new era. Hopefully a winning one.

Campbell went down for the season and Hue had to do something drastic. Enter Carson Palmer.

My only question, shouldnt Hue be held accountable for having Boller as the backup QB?

Hue has a more reliable back up, Raiders still miss the playoffs but at least they"d have a first rounder this year

Were do you guys get 2 first round picks ?

That was only if the Raiders make the AFC Championship its a 1st and then a 2nd the next year maybe a 3rd because they didn't make the playoffs.

Before you comment get your facts straight otherwise go crawl back in your hole.

Just a fact for you "Hue is a control freak" or "wants more power" people...

By "wanting more control" he was referring to the ability that just about EVERY Head Coach in the league has of HIRING HIS OWN STAFF!..

Al Davis hand-picked every defensive coach on the team... So Hue is "power hungry" because he wants to hire his own ASSISTANTS and COORDINATORS? He's a "control freak" because he want to have a say so in the players HE has to coach into HIS system???

98% of this team was hand-picked by Al Davis... he had the final say on every thing that had to do with the Raiders...

You folks are barking up the wrong tree thinking Hue wants more "executive control"... He simply want to hire his OWN coaches and have more input as far as WHO he has to COACH...

ANY RAIDER FAN or anybody with any REAL knowledge of the Raiders already knows this...

Nice try... smh

Who does Hue Jackson think he is? No, really? This is what the Raiders needed, for the past 20 years. A GM brings more structure to the organization, and Hue must learn to deal with it. Did he really think just being a coach gives him empowerment in the front office? NO! He needs to get over himself, and coach to win games. Just win baby, without the female drama Hue Jackson has brought!

Do any of you who are trashing Carson Palmer and Hue Jackson watch the games? The Raider offense finished 9th in yards overall, and this is without the best player on the team (McFadden) for over half the season and most of its top receivers in and out of the line up all season. Carson Palmer came off the couch and passed for over 3,ooo yards without having ANY kind of offseason. The guy gave its best QB play since Rich Gannon hands down. Amazing, he was actually calling audibles at the line and getting the offense into the right play! The Raider offense will be scary with everybody back and healthy next season and with Palmer having a full offseason to work with receivers and learn the playbook.

There is one reason Oakland did not make the playoffs and it had nothing to do with offense or special teams. The Raider defense was terrible. If the Raider defense had been even mediocre, then this team easily would have had 10 or 11 wins. The Raiders will go as far as the improvement on defense goes next season. It's that simple.

"Further, Robery Gallery was healthy most of the season, Zach Miller started to work his way into the offense more as the line gelled and he was able to get into patterns more often, and given Carroll and Schneider have found guys like Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman in the fourth and fifth round, we may just be finding another starter with the fifth and seventh we’re getting for Aaron Curry".

Did Gallery or Miller even play in the NFL this year? I think each player made the Pro Bowl with the Raiders once, hope they kept the Jersey because they will not be seeing that for the remainder of their time in Seattle. Gallery was HURT and missed many games in Seattle just as he did in Oakland while the Raiders O went from ranked 11th with them to 9th without them.

When discussing the Great Secretariat one does not bring up the Cheap $2,000. Claimer running at some Bush Track in Washington. Seattle?, LOL

Several problems with Oakland. It is loaded with guys who are better athletes than football players. It is a poorly coached team setting records for most penalties in a season, sorry that is all coaching. Also it is a low IQ team. Prime example the pass Palmer threw last game before half time, to a guy mid field who had no chance to get out of bounds to stop the clock. McKenzie would be a step in the right direction.

"Mike, sometimes I think you hate Hue Jackson for some reason. Maybe you do and thats perfectly fine. But this article is written in a way that makes it appear like you have sources that say this is being discussed other than around a water cooler. I am fairly sure this is largely conjecture on your part given how tight lipped and “mafia like” the Raiders historically are. Writing an article like this using words like “could”, “probably”, “seeming” tells us you are pretty much writing this with zero facts to substantiate it. Why don’t you just write the article with phrases like “I think that…” or “I believe that…”? It might hold more credibility than people reading this thinking that you have it out for him in some passive aggressive"

Clements has worked with Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn, and was with Brett Favre for a couple of seasons.

Clements helped mold Rodgers into arguably the top QB in the NFL right now. And Flynn should get a starting gig elsewhere next year.

Clements would be music to Carson Palmer's ears in my honest opinion.

Mike, sometimes I think you hate Hue Jackson for some reason. Maybe you do and thats perfectly fine. But this article is written in a way that makes it appear like you have sources that say this is being discussed other than around a water cooler. I am fairly sure this is largely conjecture on your part given how tight lipped and "mafia like" the Raiders historically are. Writing an article like this using words like "could", "probably", "seeming" tells us you are pretty much writing this with zero facts to substantiate it. Why don't you just write the article with phrases like "I think that..." or "I believe that..."? It might hold more credibility than people reading this thinking that you have it out for him in some passive aggressive way.
