Roofs shouldn’t exist in the NFL in the first place, so I wish this would not be a point of debate. No self respecting football fan wants to watch football with a roof over their heads.

Peyton won’t be playing for them next year, either. Texans go right back to the playoffs.

I remember when Bud Selig forced the Astros to open their roof during a playoff series a few years ago. I’m happy to see Godell isn’t making a power play like that. If the Texans host another playoff game I hope he stays out of it.

Roofs are for weather reasons, not “home field advantage”. I’m sure the wonderful fans who coughed up extra for that retractable roof would like to see their money in action on a nice day.

I think the NFL office should require home teams with movable roofs to make a decision 5 days prior to the 1st play-off game on whether their roof will be open or closed for the remainder of the play-offs. They can make whatever decision they prefer, but it’s unchangable. Forget weather factors, they are irrelevant. Teams with open air stadiums have to deal with whatever whether occurs so there is no reason everyone can’t.

If you have a roof I see no reason why you should not take advantage of that. Sure, it’s nice to play “outdoors” but the advantage it gives the home team is too much to pass on.

a false start is a real drive killer, and as ATL and DET and SEA have proven, loud fans and a loud stadium creates those false starts. Do it.
