My pregame analysis seems to have been more accurate. With that being said, I had no idea the game would be that close and that good. Amazed by Alex Smith and happy for the guy.

Congrats to the Saints on one hell of season and for the fight they showed in this game. What a game!

@nineroutsider read all of my posts I can assure you I've forgotten more than you'll ever know.

Your problem is you know very little about the Saints and I've watched every snap the 49ers and Saints had this season.

You've got more concerns than you realize. I've said enough in this post and based on what I've said and what you've said it's pretty clear who knows what's going to happen.

San Fran averages a touchdown every 7+ trips in the redzone. And Walker is out so good luck beating the best offense in the history of the NFL with field goals.

Re read my posts you'll see how much more I know than anyone that's posted thus far.

It strikes me that you really don't know that much about football. Who cares about last season or the Saints win total from 2009. Or the 9ers in the 80's and the Saints paper bag decades. That crap has nothing to do with this game. The 9ers play this year should have earned your respect. They are 4-1 against playoff teams.

The Niners, like the Saints, employ a lot of different looks and schemes on offense that will keep the Saints defense honest or it will get beat consistently. They aren't overly impressive on defense, but they can bring heat and are very effective with a big lead.

The Saints won't get that big lead though because of the 9ers great defense. It will bend, but it won't break and they will get some turnovers. The 9ers are great inside the 20. Hope Kasey likes 45+ field goals and lots of them. Akers does. 9ers special teams are great too. Special teams will matter more than usual to the Saints this game.

I do have concerns about this game though. This game will be very tough and hard fought. It will be close. I think the 9ers coaching staff will out scheme SP who is darn good in his own right. The 9ers have plays that I know Harbaugh has been saving that they haven't put on tape. That is the way this guy schemes, thinking about what's on tape, setting plays up for use weeks later.

9ers will have your respect if they don't have it now.

Both teams played the same amount of playoff teams in the regular season. Last regular season matchup was very close. 49ers average more points at home than the Saints do on the road.

I don't know who will win, but your entire post basically says to the world "I'm nothing more than a completely biased fan, and my opinion is worth pretty much nothing."

Like I said, I have no clue who is going to win. I'm clearly rooting for the 49ers but it will be an extremely tough game. I will, as any fan would, be upset if the 49ers lose, but there is no shame in losing to a team like the Saints.

Drew Brees really should win the MVP this year (and should have won another a few years ago).

If the Saints do win, they better beat the Packers.

The more I try to be reasonable with 49ers fans the more of you open your idiotic mouths.

A 6-10 team last year with basically the same talent you had last year and a new head coach goes 13-3 in a terrible division with an easy schedule and you are world beaters?

The Saints have gone 41-12 since the beginning of the 2009 season.

What parallel universe do you 49ers fans live in that would lead you to believe you are going to blow the Saints out? It could go either way but some of you are talking like you are in the late 80's.

You aren't favored by Vegas, you aren't favored by the public and aside from homefield you don't have any other advantages. Tell me one team aside from the Bucs early in the season that you've dismantled?

For everyone thinking Willis is going to take Graham and Sproles out of the game I suggest you watch what Reggie Bush(before breaking his leg) and Jeremy Shockey were able to do to your linebackers last season.

Throw Sproles and Graham in the mix and it's another headache for the 49ers.

Harbaugh is now using the "Honey Badger" as motivation? How unoriginal and flat out lame.

Come Saturday night in the post game you'll hear Drew Brees with a "Who's got it better than US?!" and see how you feel about it.

Saints have the best road record in NFL over last 3 years and have more yards rushing this year than Ravens and Steelers . . . of course they are not as good away from home as they are at home, they dont lose at home. Look at the games they have played since Peyton got there and there are many quality road wins - just none in the play offs, yet (except of course the superbowl)

im not gonna jinx em by rubbing niner's faces in it but niners D better be ready cause saints are relentless

The Rams hung 27 on the Niners and the Niners won. The Rams hung 31 on the Saints and the Rams won. Saints score 21, in a dome against a poor Rams D and some people think the Saints are gonna score 40+ on the Niners D in SF? Reeks of ignorance in here. May the better team win Sunday. Go niners

You can't take one game and make it representative of a trend or total team performance. The Saints scored more than 21 points on several defenses much better or even just a little better than the Rams' D. The main reason the offense was stifled in that particular game was because the D-Line got to Drew. Period. He was sacked six times, hurried countless others, and if you can do that to him, you can stifle this offense. Thankfully, the back-up tackle who got absolutely abused in that game, Charles Brown, is not going to be playing on Saturday. Zach Strief, who was injured for the Rams game, has been healthy since then and is much better than Brown.

After being sacked 6 times in that Rams game, Drew was sacked only 5 times over the remaining 8 games. You're not getting that same performance on Saturday.

Very well said. I think each fan base is feeding off the "homerism" thus resulting is biased insults. As a Niner fan, the one team I didnt want the Niners to face, was the Saints. Niners allow about 10 points per game at home and the Saints average 27 on the road. Here's to a great game

@danem83 - Ok, that last comment sounds more reasonable. I really do think that is going to come down to the Turn Overs... Unfortunately you forgot to mention that that the this years niners tied a record for the least T.O's and the biggest Take away ration +26 or something like that.

Alex smith threw 5 Ints and half of those werent his fault. However, he did struggle in the red zone and thats the difference.

If this team had scored half of the red zone opportunities they had, they wouldve matched the saints on points scored this season. Thats a stat that doesn't give credit on how this offense is able to move the ball.

I think it will be a good game.. Lets just hope that the Refs don't mess it up for either team with dumb calls or no calls

Here's the thing. The 49ers are the decent looking chick not quite as good looking as the girl next door that gets a huge boob job and wears shirts 3 sizes too small. Next thing you know all the guys are staring at her and now she things she is Charlize Theron.

I think the 49ers fans are a bit delusional about how good their team is or isn't. Let's be honest no one in 49er land would of bet their year salary the 49ers would even make the playoffs. And that goes for the ones that work at In and Out burger also.

Saints fans myself included even with recent success are always waiting on the other shoe to drop. Win a Superbowl and expect a repeat then lose to Seattle(regardless of injuries and other reasons why they lost). The Saint are 3.5 road favorites in the playoffs. Vegas is basically saying on a neutral field the Saints would be 7 point favorites and at home likely double digits. Vegas views the matchup very similar to what they saw in the Saints Lions matchup.

The Lions scored 28 points which is the most points against the Saints in 2 months. The 49ers offense is not the Lions offense but we all know that.

The 49ers are more like the Saints of 2006 instead of the Saints of 2009 as far as where this season likely ends up. If you are a 49ers fan thinking you are going to keep the Saints under 20 points and score over 30 points you are a homer and just need to keep your mouth shut.

If you are a Saints fan thinking we are going to score 50 points you need to stay away from Bourbon street.

This is going to be a great game between two talented teams with contrasting styles.

This thread is nothing but subjective, kool aid sipping points of view.

If you want to be objective about the matchup the only clear cut advantage the 49ers have is homefield advantage.

From an offensive standpoint the Saints do everything better than the 49ers and it's not even debatable. Running, passing, blocking, protecting the Qb. Frank Gore is a beast but the trio of Thomas, Sproles and Ivory is far more versatile and productive than what Gore brings. The multiple looks, personnel groupings and play calls make the Saints running game more dominant and far more productive. Is Gore a better RB than any of those individuals? Sure...Is he better than the sum of the Saints parts. Absolutely not. QB, TE, WR, OL are all clear cut advantages in the Saints favor.

Defensively the 49ers have an amazing front 7 that masks a less than mediocre secondary. Their linebackers are arguably the best in the business. I'd love to have Willis and Bowman and there's not a player on the Saints defense I wouldn't give up to get them.

With that said the 49ers are 5th worst in the NFL in giving up plays of 40 yards or more. The Saints have 4 plays of 40 yards+ against the Lions. This is potentially a very bad matchup for a good 49ers defense. Remember the Atlanta game a few years ago?

The Saints corners and safeties are more than enough to matchup with Crabtree, Ginn and Davis.

The one problem the 49ers face is that their biggest defensive strength will be all but negated by the Saints best asset on offense. Their offensive line.

So assuming the two cancel each other out what's left? Graham and Sproles on linebackers/safeties which is a mismatch for a probowl defense. The Saints WR's vs the 49ers CBs/S again advantage New Orleans.

Alex Smith was sacked more than anyone in the NFL this season and had fewer attempts than almost anyone. Gregg Williams blitzed more than any team in the NFL this season and Roman Harper tied an NFL record with 6.5 sacks by a DB....Anyone else see where this is going?

The 49ers have great special teams but so do the Saints. Sproles>Ginn...Lee=Morstead. Lee had more opportunities to punt but the difference in net yardage is insignificant. Morstead is a kickoff monster almost always hitting a touchback.

The 49ers also kicked more field goals than probably anyone ever and I'm sorry you aren't going to beat the Saints doing that.

I could see this game going either way it's the NFL and that's why they play the game.

If the Saints play turnover free ball the 49ers have about a 3% chance of winning. The Saints have never lost under Payton when rushing for over 100 yards.

For those of you that think the Saints can't win outside they are 12-4 in the last 3 years. Partly cloudy with a high of 60 might as well be indoors. Unless someone forgets to turn off the sprinklers. Then again the Saints have much more team speed so I don't know how much that matters.

Here's to a clean game injury free game.

My prediction is the Saints by 10.

All you saints fans sound like the steeler fans before that monday night game. I just let them talk all the want… and guess what, none of them were here come Tuesday after the game.

For you guys bringing up a pre-season game where the 49ers had 2 weeks of practice in that system is plain and simple stupid. you guys are dumb for thinking that a team will be oiled up on the playbook in 2 weeks… And even then bree’s couldnt get anything done.

The one saying that harbaugh would be cutting film for payton.. HAHAHAHAHA thats all im going to say. specially saying that this team was built by singletary.. that shows how little you guys know about this team.
I’m not going to be as ignorant as you Saints fans and say that we’re going to win for sure, is the playoff’s.. anything can happen, just ask the steelers… and i’m sure harbaugh has some lil surprises for you. enjoy the show everyone.
-------
Yeah you better hope between now and Saturday that Brees gets a high ankle sprain like big Ben cause that's the only way 9ers can slow him down.

My guess is, they'll need more candles in that park after Brees and company play lights out and leave the touted niner defense wondering what in the hell just hit them. The hype and talk will all be about how the Saints haven't faced a defense like this one all season...let me assure you, the niners haven't faced an offense as potent as the one they'll be responsible for stopping Saturday. WHO DAT!

But the Saints are going to roll, away, against the #1 and #2 seeds. Any given Saturday/Sunday always applies, and the Pack could bow to the Giants, but smart money goes with the odds. The Saints offense may be fine, but the overall efforts of the Saints away leaves something to be desired, and that’s not going to magically improve agaisnt upper tier teams. Assuming A-games from all involved, the Saints probably won’t make it out of San Fran.

Who measures Qbs rating differentials lol? You were right about smart money goes with the odds. Saints opened at 3.5 favorites. I await your response when you remove your foot from your mouth.
