I thought Childress was terrible until he left and the Vikings got way worse. He’d be cheap and you know what you are getting with him. As long as you cover his weaknesses he isn’t as bad as what they’ve had.

If both sides can come to an arrangement, bringing in Chili would be a fantastic move by the Bucs. He had a modicum of success in Minnesota and so let the Vikings loss be the Bucs gain. Get it done.

Why really change this up…the NFL is all about passing and the spread offense, so CHIP KELLY from Oregon, draft RG III, trade Josh for a second rounder, and load up on offensive skill position players. I know….too much much money to spend for Joel & Brian. Sell Wayne Rooney!!!

Marty Schottenheimer is currently a coaching the UFL for the Virginia Destroyers.

The UFL had a shortened season this year due to going all in on an NFL lockout.

Will be interesting to see if he is really available.

Love him or hate him; there is no one better than Brian Billick to get a so-called organization organized. Seriously, he has a corporate style that remains unmatched at the NFL level. Ravens would not have made it to the Super Bowl w/o his organizational skills.

Still, it was time for the Ravens to move forward w/o him. If anyone has learned to be an even better HC during his down-time it is Brian Billick. As a fan of the NFL, I would love to see him get another opportunity to see what he can do. I am willing to bet that he would make an impressive encore…

I truly have tried not to buy into the cheapness of the Glazer’s, but I am going to have to change my mind. For them not to have Brian Billick named in the list has to be because of $$. He’s the best former NFL coach available, and is heads above any of the others!!!

I’d be furious if the Bucs hired Childress or Phillips. Would be lukewarm on Sherman and Zimmer.

If the Bucs were ran properly, they would hire Marty and have him bring in his son as OC and then when Marty retires, Brian can take over. #Schottytakeover.

If the Bucs hire Wade Phillips, which I doubt they will(they should hire Either Mike Sherman or Mike Zimmer) the Texans should hire Mike Nolan for Defensive Coordinator.He runs a 3-4 Scheme.

Ok, as someone who has been standing on the rooftop calling for Raheem Morris’ head I look at this list of coaching candidates and am not excited.

Except for Marty Schottenheimer. This man is a class act and if he has the desire to get this franchise back on track, I believe he is the man for the job. I think with Brian as the OC, this will give the Bucs a good opportunity to develop some consistency. Their a young team so I imagine they may be a couple years away, but this hire will get them back on track.

Plus I really want Marty to stick it to AJ Smith and the Chargers. They screwed him.

Do you think the Bucs intentionally set out to put together the least exciting pool of HC candidates in the history of football, or was that just sheer happenstance?

Seriously though, the Bucs are making it known that they want to boost attendance and stop making their annual trek across the pond. Why in the hell wouldn’t they try to make a splash with this hire, whether it be a well regarded retred (see- Jeff Fisher, Bill Cowher or Dick Jauron) or an exciting up and comer. I don’t get the Glazers

To the Glazers, there is no need to interview Childress. Being mentally handicapped is not a minority, and because of this it doesn’t help fufill your Rooney rule requirements.

Wade Phillips? He’s a 3-4 guy and the Bucs just spent 2 1st round and 2 2nd round picks on 4-3 defensive lineman. He’s too soft, anyway.

Martyball is pretty much what got Dungy fired, what’s the point?

Chilly is worthless.

Sherman or Zimmer at least don’t sound terrible.

I like Marty, his post season hasn’t been good but he was being asked to beat Brady and manning in their primes just to get to the superbowl. He deserves another shot.

As a Bucs fan, I love the Marty idea and could go along with the Zimmer option, but can’t see why Childress would merit a look from any organization as HC. He was awful in Minnesota and lost the players early on.

schottenheimer is what this team needs right now..he knows how to turn teams around,he turned the chiefs around, and the chargers!!! he gets them to a point where they are playoff caliber but cant get over the hump.but if he then retires the team will be set for a new coach to come in and succeed.. his motto is i like to leaves things better when i leave than they were when i arrived which is a good thing.

@buckeye1nation, no i’m not kidding. He’s a Tampa resident now and he truly loves that community. Don’t think the Glazer’s aren’t contemplating it either. They need stability back in the franchise and butts back in Raymond James. What has he proven? He’s a proven winner with two franchises and has won a SB as well. Or was that Jim Mora’s team?

Truth be told I liked Gruden as a coach more than Dungy, but I despised him as a person. He’s shady and that was his downfall. Gruden did win with his players, HOWEVER, you can make the case that Bill Callahan won with Gruden’s. Either way Gruden was a Super Bowl caliber winning coach.

Wade Phillips: You’re a defensive coordinator. You do well at that. You are not a head coach. The total collapse of your Dallas Cowboys was a direct reflection that you had lost the team. You are not a head coach and you should remain a defensive coordinator.
