RB is the most replaceable position in the NFL. Don’t pay him!!!

Ask the 49rs, Titans, and Panthers if they feel good about paying their RBs? NOPE!

It almost never ends up being worth the insane amount of money spent.
___________________________

The only INDIVIDUAL position that is without question harder to replace than a GREAT RB is Quarterback. Let's be fair. Why don't you ask these teams how easy it is to replace a RB. All of these teams were on their way to the playoffs before they lost their back.

Raiders D. McFadden
Bears Matt Forte
Bills Fred Jackson
Cowboys DeMarco Murray

Do their teams make the playoffs without
Ray Rice
Frank Gore
Arian Foster
Michael Turner
Willis McGahee

Do you think the Chargers make the playoffs with D. Sproles? What about A. Peterson in Minnesota how easy is he to replace.

Just another RB. Starting RB goes down and his replacement looks just like him. It’s all about the offensive system and the offensive line. Why waste salary cap space over an inconsequential position?

ianwhetstone
assume that by “best young running back in the league,” you mean “young back running behind the best offensive line in the league.”

Why don't you compare 1 OL'man to 1 RB. Why are these "FOOTBALL EXPERTS" trying to compare 1 RB to the value of AT LEAST 5 Offensive Linemen!?!! lol Of course 5 players are more valuable then 1. player.

I have a question to ask my fellow commenters. When paying RBs lately all of the guys that do well in their first 2-3 years want to be paid the most in that position. We saw CJ2K start slow in a uninterested manor after getting paid. Do you guys feel that Houston would make a mistake on paying Arian too much according RB's shelf life?

Neither Foster nor the Texans are making a big deal of this locally. They're in the playoffs: not the time to deal with this.

The Texans will act reasonably, and Foster will not hold out for some ridiculous amount (40 mil guaranteed or something stupid like that).

It may come down to Arian Foster vs. Mario Williams.

Bye-bye Mario. We've got linebackers coming out our ears.

Gah... I see a storm brewing outside of Reliant Stadium this off season.. Mario Williams... Arian Foster... This is very scary, while I hope they can sign everyone I know this isn't always the case. I know it won't happen but I hope to god Andre gives back maybe a mill or they figure out a way to change his contract around to open up cap space.

I mean I've seen owners do it before! Turn some contract money into some guaranteed bonus money to make cap room. Just hope they figure it all out. Mario and Foster need to come back!! Pay the man.

i would only caution the texans not to go over-board.i know the skill sets and personalities arecompletely different, but im now nervous about any runningback contract because of how chris johnson's deal went.

but arian foster definietly deserves top money

The Texans would have made the playoffs and won yesterday without Arian Foster. After all Good/great backs are easily replaceable.... at least that's what they keep telling me. "shrugz'

Tate was good in relief of Foster, but make no mistake - Arian Foster is a special player, and Tate is not on his level. He hasn't been doing things the Peyton Hillis or the Chris Johnson way. He's gone out there and worked his ass through injury and produced without making a fuss to the media.

McNair's been a fair man in the past. I expect, and I hope, Foster will be given what he's due. RBs don't have very long in the league, but Foster's young and fresh and he's the type of player that'll make at least the next 4 years worth paying him well for.
