1. I blame this on LeBeau, who ignored the successful schemes of Buffalo, New England and KC, and repeated the errors of those during the Broncos win streak... Tebow's no Montana, but when you single cover the outside receivers, he CAN avoid a rush long enough to get a middle to deep ball away, and yes, he CAN throw the deep strike, especially when he's on the run himself. Total hubris and a stupid plan by one of the all-time great coordinators. Inexplicable, but that's Tebow in a nutshell, isn't it...

2. @steellady, someone who can't differentiate you're from your has no business calling anyone an idiot. What a world class hater... and a semi-literate one at that.

Sorry, but a receiver or a QB that is advancing the ball is considered a runner and therefore not defenseless and therefore CAN be contacted helmet to helmet. Buc fans unaware of the rules were up in arms over a hit Josh Freeman received in the first Falcons game, when he was WELL beyond the line of scrimage. No penalty. No fine. Because it was LEGAL.

don’t forget the pass interference calls. NFL wanted a tebow/brady rematch for ratings. Isn’t it funny how they call the game to get the best ratings.

-----------------------

Don't forget about the lateral that was called incomplete. And Simms changed his mind on the PI on Ike Taylor. From the other side, you could see that it was PI. Steeler fans are the last ones who should be complaining about questionable calls, especially in this game. Or was the moon landing staged, too?

Steelers prepare for spread option but don't see much of it. LaBeau is 74 and says he's seen it all, what happened yesterday as Tebow shredded his #1 Defense. Looks like they prepared for a different team.

Game, set, match to John Fox for outcoaching Tomlin and both assisitants.

Slow done with the "best team won" talk, Bronco fans. A healthy Steeler team would have won.

There is a reason that 5 out of the past 6 teams that entered the playoffs 7-9 or 8-8 won their first playoff game (home dogs are the most dangerous dogs).

These "disrespected" teams do tend to lose in Round #2, so live it up this week (sparkling Cider for Tebow) Denver fans.

The reworded rules prohibit a player from using his helmet to strike a player in a defenseless posture in the head or neck. The old rule only applied to receivers getting hit, but now it will apply to everyone.

Wallace was defined as a “runner” when he was hit helmet to helmet. You CAN hit “runners” helmet to helmet. Read the rule book.

I think it’s funny that Pitt fans are complaining about the refs given the gift lateral that was given back to them on an inadvertant whistle and the face mask penalties repeatedly not called.

Maybe that’s why their fans are called the Squealers….if the shoe fits…

I said my FEAR was that the Broncos would run us ragged in the thin air or force turnovers. My FEAR was that they'd be this year's Seattle. But the REALITY was that they devised a brilliant game plan and had the guts to carry it out. I didn't make one damn excuse for my team or even MENTION injuries. You just wanted an opportunity to write PARAGRAPHS about how the Broncos bested us. That's fine. But have the balls to do it on your own without trying to pretend my post was making excuses I didn't make. I offered no-excuses congrats and that's all.

Absolutely correct on the first point. I think you are being a bit strident in your multiple posts on point number 2. The game did go into OverTime. But congrats on the way anyway!

——————————————–

Absolutely correct on the first point. I think you are being a bit strident in your multiple posts on point number 2. The game did go into OverTime. But congrats on the way anyway!

Games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. And the vaunted Steeler D was stonewalled by the Broncos and had zero sacks.

Meanwhile the Broncos had 5 sacks, including 3 on the game's penultimate drive - all without blitzing. When it mattered most, the Broncos were the tougher, better team - even when bringing 4 pass rushers against 5 Steeler linemen.

Should we really be all that shocked at the outcome of this game?

The Broncos aren't this year's Seahawks, Deb. And the Steelers aren't last year's Saints, either.

Look, if they played this game tomorrow, the Broncos would win again. Whether played in Pittsburgh or in the "thin air" of Denver, the result would be the same.

It isn't all that complicated: the Broncos won because they were better than the Steelers. It wasn't the officiating, it wasn't the "thin air" and it wasn't because of some magic, once-in-a-lifetime "gameplan." All it took to beat this Steeler team was clutch play by the better team. The Steelers deserved to lose and did. Football justice was served because the weaker team is going home and the stronger team is going to the next round.

And forget about injuries. Denver was missing three key offensive starters, which most Steeler fans seem to ignore.

As for the officiating: Denver had to challenge 4 bad calls, 3 of which were upheld. The Steelers were also gifted possession in the 4th quarter when a backwards lateral was incorrectly ruled an incomplete pass. Anyways, Steeler fans have lost the right to moan about bad calls given the fact that NFL officials gift-wrapped Super Bowl XL for the Steelers by screwing the Seahawks

Last, I have to again point out that the Steeler coaches called a solid game. Let's not blame them for screwing up when the fact is that the Broncos simply outmuscled and outhustled an inferior team yesterday. Perhaps better players would have executed the gameplan better, but that's why the Steelers are going home, isn't it?

Bottom line: it wasn't the thin air, the injuries, a magic gameplan, rogue coordinators, sickle cells, fairies, wizards, referees or leprechauns that beat the Steelers. They were the inferior team. Their season is over while better teams continue to play for the championship.

Was afraid the Broncos would be this year's Seahawks and shock my Steelers. But my concern was that their defense would force turnovers and Tebow would run us ragged in the thin air. Like Farrior, I never expected him to pull off that kind of passing game. From the look on his face, neither did Ike Taylor, who until then had a great season.

Losing wasn't a huge surprise. But how we lost was shocking. Thank goodness we made a game of it in the second half. But the Broncos--especially Tebow--deserve all the credit in the world for devising a bold game plan and having the guts to carry it out.

So...they didn't watch the film from the Minnesota game, then? Seems like a big mistake, potentially a huge coaching mistake, if you don't look at the film from a guy's statistically best passing performance. The Broncos pulled out a close game, but they did so because Le Beau came into the game with no sense of what would happen with two safeties close to the line of scrimmage.

Give the kid credit, he made some nice throws.

He made some terrible throws as well -- like throwing the ball into the ground on third down right before turning it over to the Steelers at the end of the fourth quarter.

And, whether the result would have been different if the Steelers hadn't been decimated on defense is irrelevant because you play to win the game.

If the kid plays that well this weekend with that porous Patriots secondary, anything I suppose is possible which, after all, is the point of playing the games.

I still think Broncos fans will have had it with the kid by the end of next season, but live in the moment.

Don't blame Mike Tomlin, Dick LeBeau or Bruce Arians. Don't blame the officials, Roger Goodell, or CBS. Don't blame injuries (real and exaggerated), the altitude, luck, or the drinking water.

The real reason the Steelers lost: they were the inferior team. They deserve to go home. Their season is justifiably over.

As for the playcalling on the final drive, it's a real stretch to argue that Arians could have called it differently. The Steelers were at the 45 yard line with 29 seconds left when a 4 man pass rush swarmed the 5 man Steeler front and sacked Roethlisberger at the Steeler 45. That forced the Steelers to use their last timeout with only 18 seconds to play.

On 2nd and 21 from their own 45, Roethlisberger threw incomplete, short over the middle to Hines Ward.

On 3rd and 21 Ben was flagged for delay-of-game, so with 12 seconds left, no time outs, and at their own 37 yard line, Ben threw short right to Redman, who ran out of bounds at the Denver 49 yard line.

At this point, the Steelers were facing 4th and 14 from the Denver 49, no timeouts, and only 1 second left. Their hail mary attempt ended in another sack as Denver's 4 man rush again overwhelmed the 5 man Steeler line.

You cannot possibly blame Arians play calling when you look at the facts. On that final drive, he called short passes and threw deep when the situation called for it. The fact is that the Steelers got outmuscled in the clutch and surrendered 3 sacks in the final 1:37 of regulation to a 3 to 4-man pass rush.

Or, to put it in plain English: the Steelers deserved to lose. If they played this game again tomorrow, the Steelers would lose again. Their season is over, and the better teams will continue to play for the Lombardi trophy.

Wallace was defined as a "runner" when he was hit helmet to helmet. You CAN hit "runners" helmet to helmet. Read the rule book.

I think it's funny that Pitt fans are complaining about the refs given the gift lateral that was given back to them on an inadvertant whistle and the face mask penalties repeatedly not called.

Maybe that's why their fans are called the Squealers....if the shoe fits....
