I dont expect much improvement from them next year. Sanchez needs to make better decisions. I doubt he will. Holmes is a cancer, the running game was poor and the offensive line was a wreck. You can bring in whoever you want as OC but its going ot take more than one offseason to address the issues the Jets have on offense

Fortunatelly they stick with SexyRexy. Than can do the trick in itself.

How could he not have invited Cruz to Jets camp? I mean, UMass probably puts out about 1 possible NFL player per decade and they are thin at WR.

I’m sure Cruz would have chosen the Jets over the Giants if given the choice. Jets had an easier WR depth chart to crack and a UMass alum making the roster decisions.

How many Schottenheimer’s does it take to ruin an already moribund franchise? Let’s count ….Marty – coach, boy wonder – offensive coordinator , Mrs Marty – head cheerleader, Marty’s dog – defensive coordinator, Marty’s doctor – team physician ….

Incompetence or nepotism? Gotta go with incompetence.

Keeping Holmes won’t cost the Jets any more than cutting him will, at least not for this season. Holmes has around $7 million fully guaranteed for injury, performance, etc. If the Jets cut Holmes for walking along the sideline and flipping off the coaching staff rather than running his routes during a game, they’d still have to pay him the full amount…and that’s a lot more than coordinators make. So, they’re going to keep the guy and hope he gets his head on straight. Once you make that decision, then you have to decide if you’re going to keep the coordinator who was the only one to man up and bench Holmes when he was getting into fights with his teammates. In other words, you have to decide whether you figure the coordinator can get the player to straighten up, or if his presence will only make matters worse. It looks like either the Jets decided it would only make matters worse or Schotty simply didn’t want to have to deal with any more bs.

Sidenote: There is one factor that could lead to the Jets cutting Holmes. When the Jets pay out this $7 million, it activates a similar guaranteed amount for the following year. So, the real decision is to either cut him and eat $7 million both in real money and cap space next season, or keep him for next season and the following year at a little over $7 million per. Looks like the Jets are going to keep him for those two years at least and hope his talent outweighs his poor attitude.

And all you need to know about him as an OC is that Brett Favre and Chad Pennington each went on to have a much better season the year after they left him.
