Tuck: “To be the best, you gotta beat the best”

Wild Card Playoffs - Atlanta Falcons v New York Giants Getty Images

It’s been a Giants-heavy day at PFT, with Rosey interviewing safety Antrel Rolle in a special segment of PFT Live and yours truly interviewing defensive end Justin Tuck while guest-hosting The Dan Patrick Show.

Tuck talked about plenty of topics, including the prospects of the Giants pulling off the upset at Lambeau Field.

“We’re a very confident bunch,” Tuck said.  “To be the best, you gotta beat the best.”

Tuck also talked about far more important matters, such as why Osi Umenyiora’s jersey is so tight and how Umenyiora manages to get out of his pads after games.

Tuck also downplayed the recent “guarantee” from Jason Pierre-Paul that the Giants will win the game.

I wish these guys would run into the buzz saw that is Timothy R. Tebow.

“To be the best, you gotta beat the best”???

First of all, the Falcons were nowhere near the best.

Second of all, they still have the Packers to deal with.

Don’t get on you’re high horse yet Tuck!

Good luck NY, you know you to beat GB and their refs.

  5. test2402 says: Jan 10, 2012 2:42 PM

Really? They are playing Tim Tebow this week?

  6. binarybulge says: Jan 10, 2012 2:43 PM

Wow, finally a compliment for the Packers (albeit a backhanded one) out of the Giants. I’m impressed.

That said, I love Justin Tuck. The guy’s a monster. I know his face mask is designed to prevent further injury to his neck, but it’s friggin’ awesome. Makes him look like some kind of ninja cyborg.

Wow !! you really should read that again Dude, real slow this time !!

Tuck is saying that the packers are the best right now and now we have to beat them to be the best.

@ch1ckendinner: What high horse? Tuck is just stating the obvious. He’s actually complimenting GB.

@binarybulge: hysterical name. Tuck’s face mask = cyborg ninja OR Shredder from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

  9. bailey76 says: Jan 10, 2012 3:04 PM

Hey Ch1 , tuck was taking about the packers as the one of the best . Reading is fundamental

  10. dfinpds says: Jan 10, 2012 3:08 PM

I thought it was to be the best you have to be the best on the field? Not shooting your mouth off…….must be a new york thing…..Rex…..Pierre paul…….rolle……

r u stupid? Tuck was referring to the Packers. Everyone knows the Packers are the best team in football. The Giants have their work cut out for them this weekend.

  12. nebster21 says: Jan 10, 2012 3:13 PM

So according to Tuck if the Giants win the Superbowl does that mean that the Redskins are the BEST? Or Seattle, San Fransisco, Philly, New Orleans, or Green Bay.

Or maybe if you beat them twice. Than the Redskins and possibly the Packers are better than your team.

Any way you look at it your team cannot be the best Tuck.

  13. boisestatewhodat says: Jan 10, 2012 3:14 PM

Hey Tuck…you had your chance to beat the best on Monday Night in New Orleans but got spanked…again. Go ahead and get you a win in Green Bay this weekend then, c’mon back down here so we can spank dat %@# once more!

Giants @ 49ers next week is going to be a great game!

  16. jerrygogo says: Jan 10, 2012 3:42 PM

“So, Jason (Pierre-Paul), do you think the Giants will win this week?” “NO, Definitely not.” “We are the worst!”

What’s the guy supposed to say?

Lets jump on every last bit of media crap and fall for it ever time.

Have all you guys signed up for the Discount Double Check at State Farm too?

Wuh? Really? The Chefs walked GB so according to all of this logic, they are the best.

New Orleans fans should be worried about SF this weekend not the Giants.

  19. KIR says: Jan 10, 2012 3:45 PM

If Elie plays like the franchise QB some of you say he is, the Giants can win. That DL is incredible. No QB can withstand constant pressure and constant hits/take-downs the entire game.

    @nebster21
    How old are you? 10?

  21. boisestatewhodat says: Jan 10, 2012 3:46 PM

Saints vs Chargers in the season opener next season in the dome will be even better!

  22. nypd1056 says: Jan 10, 2012 3:48 PM

Chris Canty has been wearing the exact face mask since he came to the GIANTS. Both of them look menacing

  23. cap1378 says: Jan 10, 2012 4:04 PM

Giants are healthy again and are peaking at the right time. Watch out GB!! Just sayin

Cross your fingers that ALL the playoff games get officials worthy of the responsibility. Worst year ever for officiating.

Wuh? I didn’t know there was a team named after the guy from “South Park”. And by the way…”walked”??????

  27. kurb21 says: Jan 10, 2012 4:59 PM

As a New England fan I will say this:

The last team anyone should want to play right now is the NY Giants.

Pack fan, they get to the QB without the blitz with a sensational D-line and have a truly “elite” QB. I expect a close game and would not be at all surprised with a Giants win.

  28. jarrman46 says: Jan 10, 2012 10:35 PM

I remember last January being on this site and all the posts saying the Packers wouldnt be able to handle the Pittsburgh blitzs
I remember at Thanksgiving how the experts said the Packers couldnt handle Detroits D line
Now im hearing how the Packers cant handle Big Blues greatest D line ever.
The Packers play the 2 premier pass rushers in this league in Julius Peppers and Jarrod Allen 2 times every year. They seem to survive that

Big Blue , your front 4 is good but your back 7 well there not so good. And bravo for beating Atlanta By the way the Packers do that on a regular basis. Except we like to go to their house to do it.

  29. emoney826 says: Jan 11, 2012 5:25 PM

    cap1378,
That’s great that the Giants are peaking at the eight time. The Packers have been peaking since mopping the floor with your team last year and they’re even healthier than the Giants. Watch out NY. Just sayin.
