By the way as a Raiders fan do you even remember what it is like to have your team in the playoffs?

Vaguely. Remember when the Patriots got to the playoffs and didn't lose? It's been awhile.

As a Bengals fan I can't help but laugh as Bengals fans take shots from Raiders fans and vice versa. Both of our teams have faced decades of ownership by owners that have no clue. Yes Mike Brown somehow fleeced the Raiders for 2 big picks on a has-been QB, but we all know Mike's not so great at deciding what to do with those picks. We can applaud the job he did this year, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.

Sadly for the us, the Bengals are no where near getting a real GM and at least the Raiders can see some light at the end of the tunnel (until Al's son starts going crazy like the old man).

Bottom line, raiders and bengals (remember, I'm including myself here) fans are some of the saddest bunch of sports fans out there and taking shots at each other only adds to the misery.

I can hardly wait until Carson goes into Cincy next year and owns the Bengals.

Had AL not forced another has been successful coach from the past (Bresnahan the D-Coord) down Hue's throat, this team woulda been 11-5.

Hue shoulda fired Bresnahan the day after AL died.

And another note, other than mike brown and the front office, Carson's biggest reason for wanting to leave is because he is from cali and him and his family live there and he wanted to play football but if he couldn't keep him and his family happy he would rather retire.
Not defending him but if i moved 2000 miles away for a job and it wasn't working out and wanted to move back to my state to be happy i would too.

Bengals have made the playoffs 2 of the past 3 seasons.

It would say that puts them far above being the worst franchise in the NFL at the moment.]

You realize the bengals have had 3 winning seasons in 21 years right?
I live about an hour outside of cincy my whole life i should know! But i'm really glad palmer quit because mike and marvin would've let him stay as long as he liked regardless off his play. Palmer has done the most since boomer unfortunetly the most is 2 winning seasons out of his 9

Palmer quit on Mike Brown because he spent 7 seasons in Cincinnati only to see in his final years the team relying on Ocho, T.O., and a slew of other players half-ass players. He got sick of the fact no matter what he put into the team, Mike Brown wasn't going to back him and provide him with the talent he needed around him.

Palmer shouldn't have a reason to quit on the Raiders, not with the tools in place and finally some stability. He's a west coast guy who is more likely to stay with the Raiders w/o quitting.

Ask any GM in the NFL and they will say the Raiders are loaded with talent, they just need coaching to get them there. Without Al Davis, they'll finally have the coaching staff in place to maximize these players' talents. Palmer isn't leaving, he's going to enjoy the ride.

Worst case scenario, Palmer for Sanchez straight up?

Let's not forget why Palmer "quit" on Cincy last year: the inept front office (the "executive of the year" award is a joke, c'mon). His play has declined a lot, don't get me wrong, but he was never the main problem in Cincy. Granted, I wasn't sure things would be much different if Hue stuck around, but at least Hue's gone now and Mark Davis just handed over the keys to a credible, competent football man. Al Davis, RIP, was great at a time, but that time had passed. If anything, I think Palmer is less likely to complain or quit now than he was when he first became a Raider.

So what did TO and Ochocinco do this year? Less than what Palmer did. JC is a decent QB but that is all he will ever be. I watched Carson this year and while he did make some mistakes he made throws Campbell could never make. If Campbell doesnt get hurt the Radiers dont beat SD in the first game and arent even close to them in the last game. Palmer played great in both those games.

Funny how many people have expressed the sentiment along the lines of: it was OK when he quit on the Bengals because I sort of understand why somebody would do that...but if he does it again he deserves whatever criticism he gets!

Since Marvin Lewis took over the Bengals in 2003 and drafted Palmer the Bengals have won two division titles and made the playoffs a third year as a wild card team, even while playing in the same division as two of the league's heavyweights. The Raiders have made zero playoffs over the same stretch of time and only even been serious playoff contender in December a single year. Oakland has Cinci beat hands down in terms of which is the more dysfunctional team!

I love how everyone thinks the Bengals are so terrible when they've been to the playoffs 3 times in the past 7 years. There are at least 15 teams that can't claim that.

I get it, our owner sucks, but there HAS been (many) worse teams over the past decade.

The raiders demise was their defense. Anyone who watched the games knows how much worse they got each game. And that's including the wins over the chiefs, texans, bears, Vikings, and browns. All of those we're squeezed out at the end.

And why? Because Al classicly reaches to the past glory days and has no grasp of the concept that the game evolves by forcing Hue to take on chuck bresnahan as his D coordinator (as well as Biekert and Woodson as coaches on the defense). Glad Al's gone so he no longer forces coaches onto his coaches.

poprox13, I watched Carson Palmer last year and he sucked, and he even had T.O. and Ochocinco to throw to. Meanwhile Campbell was 8-8 in Oakland with mediocre receivers.

I'd say Carson was mediocre this year and Jason was decent. Carson threw 13 TDs and 16 INTs. I always thought Carson was pretty overrated. He had two winning seasons in Cincy.

Campbell had McFadden and healthy WR's. Without them Campbell would have not gotten the Raiders to the playoffs much less one game short of getting there. Do you even watch Raider games? Palmer is by far the better QB.
