starderup: Brees has two 5000 yard seasons, a Super Bowl MVP, and the all time single season yardage and accuracy records, along with an exceptional body of community work. But hey, maybe Alex Smith can get over that 200 yards per game barrier next year.

In a 14 month span, our dump of a city is hosting 4 bowl games, the BCS Championship, Super Bowl, and the Mens and Womens Final Four. And the lights will stay on during all of them.

Saints are hot right now. Cannot wait for this game to start. Its been nine years since Niner fans have been this excited for a game. Go Niners!

Yes, 30th ranked schedule. A good team will win most of those games, especially when so well coached. But the Saints are a great team, playing as hot as a team has been in recent years heading into the playoffs. It is just unfortunate the niners had to face the Saints in their first playoff game in years.

Normally the niners would have the emotional edge at least, being the underdog in their home stadium, but Saints are tired of hearing about the myth that they can’t right now win on grass. Saints have a chip on their shoulder and will come out flying in this game.

Cards fan:
The Niners played the Giants and Cowpies and Eagles and Lions and Steelers,all high flying offenses…and the Niners won 4 out of 5 of those games,because of their defense. and of course those teams were part of their opponents that scored the fewest points in the League this season. (they also had easy teams like the Arizona Cards and Seattle and ST louis,but those teams were on their schedule and they won 5 out of 6 of those easy games,as opposed to the Saints that lost to the Rams and to the Bucs,that the Niners blew out).

The Saints average 41 points in the Super Dome. But only 27 on the road. They only scored 21 against the Rams, and 20 against the Bucs (both losses). If they could only put up that many points against those teams, what will happen when they play the team who allows the LEAST POINTS PER GAME?

saints won the Super Bowl on grass, right? And this offense is better than in ’09, without any doubt. Saints may not score in 40s this game because niners D is very good, but Saints could have scored in 50s in last several games if they needed to, so hard to say. Niners can’t score much on Saints without some good fortune. 38-7 seems about right. Don’t count out Saints D, which is not as bad as they are perceived to be and don’t count out Alex Smith from having a bad game. Smith will have to play a perfect game to get niners in 30s and Saints are scoring at least in 30s, minimum, unless there are a number of turnovers. Saints last game on grass they did not score much, but only stopped themselves with mistakes, and dominated Titans in yards. Other recent road game was blowout of Vikings. Hard to win much on road lately when only at home the past month. Hard to believe a team down at halftime wins going away by 17, while kneeling on the ball at Lion’s 3 yrd line to end it, in a playoff game, but supposedly can’t play well on the road. This is arguably the best offense of all time and did not even punt the ball once last week in a playoff game and scored every possession but the two turnovers and kneel down to end game at Lion’s 3 yd line. 6 possessions in 2nd half 5 touchdowns and a mercy kneel down or would have been easily 6 TDs. The niners D is good, but we are not talking about the 85 Bears here or the Steel Curtain. It would take an historically great D to stop the Saints offense right now. Just too may weapons for the most accurate passer of all time to play with. And if the Giants great pass rush could not get to Brees, why would the niners’ lesser but solid pass rush do any better, or somehow harass Brees to the point that he is not effective? 38-7
