Earlier this week, the league didn’t seem to be receptive to the possibility of closing what we’ve called the McDaniels Loophole.

Now, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the NFL will consider whether to prevent coaches who finish a season with one team from joining a team that’s still playing in the postseason. Nearly 70 percent of you think that the league should prevent this from happening.

So do we. If player rosters become frozen in place when a team’s season ends, coaches who finish the season with one team shouldn’t be permitted to join a team that is still alive in the playoffs.

Regardless of whether former Rams offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels’ presence on the Patriots’ staff will make a difference for a team that has lost two straight home postseason games without him, the ability of a coach from a non-playoff team to climb aboard the bandwagon of a playoff squad seems unfair.

If you’re not among the 20,000-plus who have made your views on this one known, go ahead and do it now.
