APFor most teams, it’s no big deal when a team doesn’t score points in two out of three quarters of a game.
For the Saints, it’s a shock.
NBC SportsTalk producer Ricky Diamond points out that, during the regular season, the saints scored in 59 of 64 quarters. Last week, the Saints didn’t score in the first quarter against the Lions.
And so, after having only five scoreless quarters in 16 games, the Saints have had three in the last 1.75 — and two out of three today.
Still, the Saints trail by only six points, 20-14, and they’re on the move, again.
I guess people like Ben should get credit for what they have to do outdoors and worse weather. Brees has looked positively ordinary in the last two outdoor playoff games he has played and this is without the cold.
Brees is a great QB and Payton is a damn good offensive coach. But their super numbers are because they have that indoor carpet to play on where Sproles can be more elusive and not be subject to such hits.
Welcome to outdoor football. Only reason they may be able to pull off this game is SF offense is putrid.
Rodgers is easily a more all round QB than Brees. Indoors, outdoors. Turf, grass.
Niners defense playing sooo good. Secondary’s flying. And Justin Smith is beasting. That bull rush and one arming Brees was awesome…
Still early, but Who Dat? Saints can’t win on the road?
Go saints. if they win then will you bring this el dumo stat up again. cmon
Alex smith should have slid on that play. Could’ve forced the saints to burn their timeout and they would’ve ran the clock down and kicked a game winning field goal.
This is why SBs should rarely be in domes. If they want warm weather, just have it in CA and FL. The northeastern teams and teams like Chicago are at a major disadvantage with domes inthe SB. GB is the onbly team that can play great on both surfaces now.
Bye Bye Saints join the Jets Now
Wow one of the best playoff games I have ever watched…what an amazing drive by alex smith!!!
Alex Smith has finally found a coach and what a drive. 49ers fan should say sorry to him for saying crap about him all the time.
He won this game used all his weapons and was cool under pressure.
Great game! But saints fans aren’t talking smack now!!! Saints bye bye
Gotta give it up to SF offense. They did more than I gave them credit for. Alex Smith was clutch. AWESOME FINAL 4 MIN in terms of drama. Doesn’t change my sentiment about dome teams. Sproles can’t get the same traction on natural grass outdoors and that split second delay is enough for a LB to unload on him a huge hit to dislodge that ball.
The 9ers took away his strength. Throwing for yardage and td’s in garbage time.
