Since I’m not an NFL player or coach, I can say without fear of fine, that the officiating during the NY-GB game stunk. My gosh, even those in the cheap seats knew the flag against Osi was trumped up.

I hope the NFL doesn’t reward those refs by allowing them to work any more games this season.

It looks like the Packers have quite a rebuilding job in front of them this off season. Statistically, they had the worst defense in the league, so much of the defense needs to be jettisoned and replaced, including the coaching. Their receivers cannot hang onto a pass and looked average. They have no running game whatsoever, except from their QB. Speaking of the QB position, I think that Flynn should be given every opportunity to battle Rodgers for the starting job. Rodgers may have had a stat-stuffed regular season, but he looked awful yesterday. The offensive line definitely needs upgrading too. Overall, it looks like a lot of work to make this team playoff-ready. Funny, because earlier this season all the media could do is wonder about how long the Packer dynasty would last. They answered that question yesterday – exactly one season.

When the refs blew the first call I said perhaps an honest mistake but a bad one. When they did it again I said fix. There is either something up with the refs or they just stink.

This game should have been a 21 point win, but they won easily enough despite the refs wishes.

Funny, I seem to remember a certain Green Bay QB who wore a #4 jersey having the best game of his life up to that point shortly after the death of his own father. And his teammates most certainly helped that to happen. I’m sure the team felt bad for Philbin & Raji, but then use it for motivation and go and win for them. Your explanation is nothing more than an excuse.

This pointed out two problems with replay. First the replay official should be able to see what everybody else sees, and clearly state exactly what that is and demonstrate it to representatives of both teams. Second penalties are not reviewable, even by the officiating crew itself, no matter how questionable or critical to the outcome of the game. I also cannot understand why successful challenges should be limited. If a crew makes 15 mistakes favoring either team, they should be able to point that out, even in the last two minutes. Unsuccessful challenges could carry a delay of game penalty if no timeouts remain. The Networks could save the commercial breaks and run them during reviews. How fitting. In February 2011, the censors repeatedly removed our posts congratulating the Packers after they beat us in Super Bowl XLV. Now they’ve removed my post thanking the Giants for shutting up some of the most obnoxious fans on the site.

People like to rag on Steelers fans, but we didn’t spend the year after beating the Cardinals going on every single one of their threads posting “Steelers > Cardinals” like a bunch of junior high kids. Of course it’s not all Packer fans, but they have a loud contingent that are among some of the most unsportsmanlike jerks I’ve ever encountered. Apparently we’re not allowed to say so, but thank heavens the Giants have spared us all another year of their nonstop braggadocio.

The Giants played better and deserved to win. Green Bay played like a team that shouldn’t be in the playoffs. It was pathetic. Congrats to the Giants. Offense wins games, defense wins championships.

49ers open at 2.5 favorites & it’ll be a pick ‘em by game time. This is a bad match up for the 49ers because the Giants are the most balanced team in the playoffs. Yesterday’s game between the 49ers & Saints showed 1 thing: Vernom Davis is the biggest threat the 49ers have. Here’s 3 names for you… Jason Witten, Tony Gonzalez & Jermichael Finley; what do they all have in common? They’re all better than Davis & they were all shut down by Michael Boley & the Giants. It was one of the worst officiated playoff games I have ever seen for a big game. The refs gave the Pack that first touchdown even though it was obvious the receiver fumbled which led to 7 Packer points. That wasn’t a helmet to helmet hit on Rogers giving them a first down. That was a Pack fumble in the 4th qtr on the last play before the 2 min warning. But the Gmen kicked ass!!! They’ve got a shot if they can stay healthy. I’d love to see another Patriots/Giants re-match.

Before the playoffs started, the media had already decided the Saints and the Packers would play in the NFC Championship. The Niners and Giants had different plans.

Should be a great game just like earlier in the season when they played each other. I think both teams have improved since then.

I’d love to see the Niners use Hunter in passing situations more often; like how the Saints use Sproles.

If it wasn’t for the refs’ incompetence/bias, the score would have been 43-6 for the Giants. The refs allowed the Packers to get 14 points off blown calls.

Erin better look out, Packer fans will turn on him like they did Favre. They forget that Favre played during an era where defensive backs could actually hit wide receivers, defensive linemen could actually hit a QB and QB’s didn’t wear skirts. With the pass happy NFL that doesn’t allow for defense, Rodgers may pass many of Favre’s passing records but he will never get close to consecutive games played record unless Goodell turns the league into flag football.
