Vikings finally remove defensive coordinator title from Fred Pagac

Lately, the Vikings had been taking a page out of the Dolphins’ playbook, interviewing candidates for a job that was not yet vacant.

On Friday morning, the Vikings finally did the right thing, removing the title of defensive coordinator from veteran assistant coach Fred Pagac, according to Jeremy Fowler of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Per Fowler, the Vikings offered to Pagac an opportunity to return to the position of linebackers coach, a job he held from 2006 through 2010.

And this would suggest that linebackers coach Mike Singletary is in line to become the defensive coordinator, unless the Vikings know Pagac won’t accept the demotion.

    HAHAHA. Please say it’s so!

Also, Miss America last night, NFC championship game after today!

    Go Pack Go!

  2. Singletary as D-coord? I guess the team wants two top 5 draft picks in a row.

The situation is fluid though, no way Singletary is a lock. They may just be waiting until the end of the postseason to go after a defensive mind on one of the teams still competing.

  3. I would expect nothing less from this management crew to hire him as a coordinator. A guy who was just the linebackers coach on a 3 – 13 team. Let’s give him a promotion just like Spielman. This organization is comical. It is embarrassing to be a Viking fan. I have had a proud tradition. Sure we have not won a sb but have always been competitive. I hope we can get lucky in the draft, free agency and everyone comes back healthy.

  4. Did anyone hear gerbschimdt CRY when the chiefs beat the pack?
Priceless! Go to kfan .com ; that’s what packers fans are all about. “theres no crying in football” Go giants!

  5. The 3 coaches wont be there in 2013. At least they will need Singletary as interim coach when they fire Frazier

  6. It will be Singletary or Castillo, more importantly, with the crappy corners, safeties, and LB (outside of Greenway) Vikings have it wont matter. Im a Vikings fan, they lack talent period.

  7. As a lifelong Viking fan, they just go from bad to worse in their personnel decisions unless Ziggy is out to tie the Lions record. Spielman has proven his incompetence in Atlanta and Miami, and the combination of Frazier and Singletary should lead to a lot of one play drives for whomever they play. The DLine coach was the only one who was doing his job but I guess they didn’t want him to be the smartest guy in the organization.

  8. The way it looked Karl D should be the one with a promotion. Seemed like the linebackers regressed under Mike S. Hopefully they know what they’re doing. We all know there was alot of injuries, but all teams have them. Would like to see Spags as DC but I doubt it will happen, need a proven DC. This is the offseason we find out what kind of front office the vikes have..coordinator hires, draft, and freeagents. Enjoying the playoffs and would like to see the niners and ravens in it and watch the brothers duke it out, imagine the hype…

So how did that game go for you? At least you can hang your hat on the Miss America thing. But since you dont own “shares” of “stock” in her, I dont know how you are going to claim her accomplishment as your own, but I am guessing you will find a way.
