Eli Manning continues to win playoff games, which means Archie Manning will continue to attend them.

And that means we’ll get fresh Archie Manning quotes each week regarding Peyton Manning’s future. The latest: Peyton’s dad says his son prefers to stay in Indianapolis.

“Peyton kind of likes his roots in Indy,” Archie Manning told the New York Post. “We’ll see what happens there. If that doesn’t work and he can get healthy we’ll see. That’ll all work out. He’s just trying to get healthy.”

A lot is left unsaid here. First Peyton Manning has to get healthy. The other uncertainties in Indianapolis: Will Jim Caldwell remain as head coach? Will the Colts use the first pick on Andrew Luck or trade it?

All things being equal, it’s no surprise Peyton Manning would like to stay put. But that’s an oversimplification of a complex issue that has a lot of variables yet to play out.
