Ed is asked by his team to roam around and play center field and pick off passes. Hell they dont even play the same position. One is a strong safety the other is a free safety.

It wasn’t so much that Baltimore was celebrating the Orioles beating the Red Sox as much as it was Baltimore celebrating the misery of the Red Sox loud mouth, annoying fans. And once the Ravens win this Sunday, their record against the Patriots will be 2-0.

What, a FS can’t get a lot of tackles? Ryan Clark led his team in tackles this year and he’s a FS. The Steelers also allowed the fewest plays of 40+ yards during the regular season, which means he was the most effective last line of defense in the league.

Of course, he’s a FS and according to you, they don’t ever play in the box. So how is it that he led his team in tackles? Especially considering that, as a FS, he was also the last line of defense and was the most effective in the league at preventing big plays.

Granted that it’s stupid to compare positions like bigblaw did, but your reasoning doesn’t hold up to snuff.

In fact, it suggests that Reed is Mr. Overrated because he doesn’t get as many tackles as Polamalu and he’s less effective as a FS at preventing big plays.

Now keep in mind, that’s what YOUR logic suggests. I personally think Reed is a great player, who sometimes gets too much credit because he’s been known to jump routes and give up big plays–much like that guy whom you refer to as “Mr. Overrated.”

I can’t wait for this game…it’s going to be a grind. I can think of 12 reasons each team can win it… Gotta love it.

The same Joe Flacco……do not beleive all the crap you hear about Flacco. He has beaten some very good defenses this year including the Steelers, 49ers, and Texans.

He plays within the Ravens system and just wins. Continue to think of him as a weak link at your own peril!

The reason they bring up Flacco is the same reason that Ravens fans keep bringing up reasons why the Pats will lose. That’s what analyzing and predicting games is all about.

And I find it interesting that you basically say Flacco isn’t the reason they’ll lose, but then say in the same breath that Flacco beat the Pats 2 years ago and has beaten some great teams this year. So.. Flacco wins games for the team, but he doesn’t lose them? Hm…

Anyway, the fact is, even the Pats weren’t confident going into the game 2 years ago, and losing Welker was a huge blow to their confidence. This season, however, Gronk and Hernandez are playing like their lives depend on the outcome of each game, and Brady has a fierceness I don’t think we’ve seen in a long time. He really wants a win.

That’s not to say that they’ll definitely win, but it’s a different team than 2009… just like the Ravens are different. Do I think Flacco needs to put up better numbers than he did 2 years ago in order to assist in winning this game? Definitely. Do I think he needs to put up Brady-like numbers? Probably not.

I think it all comes down to the O-line for the Pats. If the O-line is on fire, the Ravens could be in trouble.

The Ravens don’t need Flacco to be Tom Brady, they need him to secure the ball and hand it off to #27. This feels eerily similar to 2009 when no one was giving the Ravens a chance.

Well let me tell you I AM surprised the Pats got blown out that year but I am not surprised they lost. That was a team that had 0 business even making the playoffs.

That game means as much to Sunday as the last time the Pats played your squad, which was a win. IMO Flacco won’t be able to have a statline like the 09 divisionals this time and come out with the W.

Raven’s fans want to keep pointing to the game 2 freaking years ago as the reason that they will win again this time around. only one problem with that logic (actually 3 problems).

2) Gronkowski
3) Hernandez

None of whom played in that last game.

What would suck most is being a fan of a baseball team that’s so bad that you have to celebrate ending someone else’s season on your way to another last place finish.

That and seeing your football record against the Pats go to 1-7.

6-1 Patriots, including a win last season.

Also the Patriots will have 17 different starters on O and D than they did in that playoff game, with only Light, Mankins, Brady, Wilfork, and Mayo starting in both games, so it’s hard to argue that what the Ravens were able to do then is particularly relevant now, with

5 new people in the front 7,
a new secondary,
new receivers (plus Wes back- was out in 2009), the best tight end tandem in NFL history,
3 of 5 O-linemen replaced,
and Brady being Brady

The question of the day is whether the Baltimore D will be able to stop Brady, Gronk, Welker, Hernandez and company from racking up more points than Flacco can score.

In 2009 the Baltimore D was better and Brady’s knee still wasn’t at full strength, nor did he have two pro bowl TEs.

It’s still not an easy game but the prospects of the Pats winning this year are much better than in 2009.

Oh, and keep talking about how the Pats only beat weak teams during the regular season while your road record was 4 & 4 against the absolute worst.

This is not the same team you beat in the 2009 playoffs. So while you try to excuse those poor performances of the Ravens during the 2011 regular season you’re still holding on to 1 win from 2 years ago!!!
