Dez Bryant’s Miami brouhaha may have involved Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne AP

On Monday, word emerged that Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant had been detained by police following a fight at a Miami nightclub.  Because Bryant was neither arrested nor charged, the story seemed destined to fade away.

Bryant’s mentor, David Wells, has told WFAA-TV that Bryant “got involved in a verbal altercation with some members of a famous rapper’s entourage and had to be detained by police.”

And those two words — “famous rapper” — have given the story new life.

According to the Miami New Times, via NBCDFW.com, the “famous rapper” may have been Lil Wayne (pictured).

Though it’s unknown where this story will go from here, it’s safe to say that Todd Haley won’t be rejoining the Cowboys as receivers coach.

Lil Wayne is a double threat. He’s released several terrible rap albums and also released an awful rock album in 2010.

I heard the fight started when Mr. Lil told Dez to start playing like a 1st round pick. Dez then told him to start making music like an actual musician.

lol, never good to hang around a dude that’s close to 30 and still calls himself “Lil”.

Not to mention the fact that he went to jail for felony weapons charges.

Every time I see a story like this it reminds me of a scene from the kids movie, ‘Cars’ where the veteran car approaches the hot young rookie and says, “Great race kid. You have more talent in one lug nut than most cars have in their entire chassis… but you’re stupid”.

If Dez Bryant was a car, this would be meant for him.

  28. screamingsheep69 says: Jan 18, 2012 8:43 PM

Your “sources with knowledge of the situation” should have told you who he was fighting with. Too bad Drew doesn’t represent Lil’ Wayne too. He could set up a cage match between the two.

Maybe Lil Wayne said something bad about Dez Bryant when he was a guest panelist on “Around The Horn”.

    Yes that actually happened.

Here’s what happened… Brandon Marshall got into a fight with his wife, she came at him with a knife, he ran an “out” route, slipped on a McDonald’s bag and fell into Lil Wayne’s possy and knocked over the Cristal just as Dez was walking by. Dez tried to catch it but dropped it and the fight ensued. At least nobody got shot and killed this time. RIP Darrent Williams

    I think not.

    Thomas: 21 games played, 54 receptions,834 yrds, 6 TD’S

    Bryant: 27 games played, 108 receptions,1489
    yrds, 15 TD’S

When will idiot Bryant leave to stay out of clubs and Miami. Get to a gym, working your skills.

  41. rexachss says: Jan 18, 2012 10:52 PM

Man Dez Bryant has a chance to make his families future generations comfortable…@ least middle class…but mistakes like this and he.will end up having his fortune taken right back where it came from. These guys have got to be smarter ( or get better advisors) than this.

  42. toddselleck says: Jan 18, 2012 11:01 PM

dez does what he wants because he has never respected anyone who has tried to change him….. hes never had that person in his life that can change him…i think deep down hes a good guy… but know one gets him so you turn on him…..easy and lazy thing to do….hope the guy finds someone who can reach him and understand him……all the money in the world wont get this man what he is looking for….

    —————————————–
Thomas has better ypc average, 2 100-yard games and a 200 yard game vs 1 100 yard game for Bryant. Can’t think of a single game Bryant dominated. Thomas abused both the Vikings in the regular season and destroyed Ike Taylor and Polomalu in the playoffs!

Point is who would you rather have? A headcase that gets tired and disappears in the second half or the guy that overcomes injuries and catches game-winning touchdown?

  53. papoose059 says: Jan 19, 2012 7:15 AM

Dez is definitely a better receiver than Demaryius Thomas. But Bryants attitude and work ethic are questionable. I believe if Dez spent the entire off season training he would be a force and probably loose the injury bug he seems to have. Id take my chances with Dez>Thomas, just because Thomas seems to be injury plaiged, with less talent.
