Tom Brady misses entire practice with left shoulder injury

Divisional Playoffs - Denver Broncos v New England Patriots Getty Images

The Patriots were missing one player at practice on Wednesday. It was a rather important one.

Tom Brady was listed as “did not practice” by the Patriots because of a left shoulder injury. Brady has missed some practice time this year, but he did practice last Wednesday and was taken off the injury report by the end of the week.

Brady missed Wednesday’s practice before Week 17, although the team said that was not injury related. He returned that week to be limited because of his non-throwing shoulder injury and started the game.

There is no concern Brady will miss the game. He did his press conference Wednesday and finished last week’s game. The Broncos barely touched Brady last week, so this move is likely precautionary.

Still, the Patriots wouldn’t have Brady sit out the most important practice of the week before the AFC championship unless the injury was of some concern.

Aaron Hernandez (concussion) was limited in practice, but he has been cleared to go or he wouldn’t be out there. The Patriots list 18 players on the injury report. Only tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back) truly seems up in the air.

It looked like Hernandez got the concussion late in the game…when he was playing and running with the ball for what reason Bill Belichick??? Did Brady get the shoulder injury late in the game when he ran a QB sneak for what reason Bill Belichick???

18 Players on the injury report?

This reminds me of the old Jimmy Johnson Cowboys days when the entire team was listed as “questionable”

Fine the coaches for lying. Fine the refs for mistakes. Why should only the players be fined?

If they are lying or incompetent, hold their feet to the fire.

Brady calls all his QB sneaks, jersey73. Besides, he’s been listed with a left shoulder injury for weeks.

  7. nardointhenati says: Jan 18, 2012 5:01 PM

All I can visualize is that red “target” triangle on Toms shoulder as the Ravens D breaks the huddle. If Mount Cody gets a piece of Brady it could get ugly.

  8. mornelithe says: Jan 18, 2012 5:02 PM

Hernandez is fine, league rules state a player cannot speak with the media after a game, if they have a concussion. Hernandez spoke with the media, he doesn’t have a concussion.

Wouldn’t worry about Brady either, he’s only been listed with a possible shoulder injury for the majority of his career, right?

(Not sure why you would’ve removed my previous post, but same deal as before, Copy and Paste…remove it again, and I’ll simply add it again.)

Not that I’m a Pats fan but doesn’t BB look a little like Yoda? I mean the hood, the hand motions. Pretty funny.

    Go Blue!!!!

The fact that Brady practiced last Wednesday should not be compared to this Wednesday as last week’s game was held on Saturday and this week’s will be held on Sunday.

Come with this information if he misses practice tomorrow as then the status would be comparable.

“when he was playing and running with the ball for what reason Bill Belichick???”

@jersey73, how about because the team hadn’t played a good full 60 minutes of football the whole season before last week ? How about because for the Pats players play and do their jobs ? How about because if you take the guys out and sit them at the end of the year they can lose their edge ? How about because the Pats have suffered some embarrassing losses over the years when they were up by a substantial margin and Belichik knows that no lead is safe in the NFL ?

Sure he is taking precaution now but not in live action when he is up 5 TDs and there is only 7 minutes left.

I saw four touchdowns in less than four minutes last week.

no, he tripped while trying to dance with his uggs on.

That pesky shoulder been holding him back for years.

  22. cliverush says: Jan 18, 2012 5:48 PM

The injury is the one he sustained in the December game against the Dolphins. The film of him in practice that week shows him protecting that arm and holding it close to his chest instead of holding his hand facing out. He played against Buffalo with it and received some hard hits. This guy is tougher than just about every idiot on this site who, in their third grade level of writing, call him unkind names.

hey pdmjr. with flacco as your qb your team can’t kick the crap out of a high school team just ask ed reed.

  24. daysend564 says: Jan 18, 2012 6:39 PM

Flacco was the QB the last time the Ravens knocked the Patriots out of the playoffs…

  25. cowboysfan18 says: Jan 18, 2012 6:41 PM

Tom Brady would play with no left shoulder.

  27. stangz11 says: Jan 18, 2012 6:56 PM

I’d still take Tom Brady if he was in a coma than Joe Flacco…

  28. captn58crunch says: Jan 18, 2012 7:16 PM

Aaron Hernandez is a punk who shows up opponents. The Ravens will punk him good on Sunday and give him a huge dose of humility. I would not be sending him out there against the Ravens D with even a slight concussion.

Ah, who cares, let him get destroyed. He is a punk.

  29. TheDPR says: Jan 18, 2012 7:44 PM

Brady doesn’t need reps four days before the game. Three days is plenty for him.

As for the Ravens, they win games in spite of Flacco, not because of him. If they win it will be because they figure out that Ray Rice and their defense are the engine of that team. Flacco’s just an accessory.

I like John Harbaugh as a HC and there is no denying the Ravens are solid. But if the Patriots bring it to the Ravens like they did the Broncos this one could get ugly, too. The Ravens laid a few eggs on the road this season against much worse teams than the Patriots (@Titans, Jaguars, Seahawks, Chargers). They can’t come out like that this weekend and expect to have a chance.

The only reason why he was listed with a shoulder injury and missed practice is so that he could go home to his wife and get his tubes properly cleaned out. The game is enough pressure. He doesn’t need the added extra pressure from down below to be a distraction.

NO worries, he is fine, just needed to take care of business.
