@steelergold – Most Raven fans don’ think Joe is an elite QB. But he was good enough to beat your teams a$$ twice this year. And if not for Q and Housh dropping passes that hit them in the hands he would have beaten you in the playoffs last year.
---------------------------------------

Please -- the Steelers totally taking over the second half of that game was what won it. And don't forget the absolutely BOGUS fluke TD the Ravens ran back in the first half, off that "fumble" caused by all the Steelers standing around thinking the whistle had blown. I'd say that undeserved charity TD more than made up for a couple of dropsies... funny you don't mention that one though.

I wonder how fast the Ravens fans will trot out the Cameron excuse for Flacco if he flops as he usually does in a playoff game?

Even though I am one of the biggest critics of Flacco,I would save judgment until he is out from under Cam Cameron. First of all, what parent would name their son Cameron Cameron???...kinda shows a lot right there...Secondly, the excuse used to always be,we dont have any receivers...now, we have some of the best receivers in the league and STILL,no offense. Why? Cam Cameron is worthless....no feel for the game.

If the Ravens lose on Sunday, CC will be out on the street come Monday. I can promise you that. At this point, even if the Ravens win the SB,I think he is gone....

Get rid of the idiot!

You don't get to the playoffs 4 years running without being a good QB. If that was the case the Ravens would have made the playoffs every year between 2001 and 2007.
Despite a great defense year in and year out the Ravens did not get sonsistent until Joe started.
Now we need to release the handcuffs and the only way to do that is to get rid of Cam.

baltimore fan here. let me share some things

zorn was fired b/c he and cam weren't on the same page. flacco loved zorn, and zorn created a great buffer between flacco and cam. but cam thought zorn wasn't delivering the offense the way he wanted it delivered (west coast vs air coryell). and when it comes down to qb coach vs OC, OC is going to win so zorn was out and flacco was pissed. flacco and cam dont really get along (shocker)

this article is spot on about cam's play calling. honestly, i think cam would have been gone before the year started if it werent for the lockout. they weighed the pros and cons of firing cam and getting a new OC w/ no off season to implement a new gameplan and decided against it. simple as that

also, the article is spot on about the WRs. despite a couple of great grabs last game, they routinely drop balls that are right in their hands. the only sure handed guys on the team are pitta and rice. ill cut torrey some slack since he's a rook and his hands were a concern anyways, but dickson and even boldin need to step up and catch the ball

thats all

Fake Fight = Desperate Attempt To Blow Off Real Issues.

Like the FACT that Ed Reed does believe his QB and OL aren't doing a good job and need be better. If he didn't think it he never would have said it in the first place.

Considering Flacco already has a fragile ego I doubt critical comments from a HOF player like Reed don't have some effect on him. Overcompensating with a staged fight won't cover up what most of us have known for a while.

I'm a Steeler fan and I'm always amazed by the criticism that Flacco seems to get year after year. He's guided his team to the playoffs EVERY SINGLE YEAR since he started (including doing so as a rookie). He hasn't missed a game yet in 4 years, despite taking some real wallops back there. I may dislike the Ravens as our main rival, but every time I hear people bitching about Flacco I just shake my head. Do Bmore fans remember Boller? Elvis Grbac anyone? Stoney Case? The Ravens have never had it so good, yet a majority of their fans do nothing but criticize this kid. I wouldn't trade Big Ben for him, but if Ben went down I'd be more than happy for Flacco to be named starter.

"Here is a team for the fifth time playing in the playoffs and not getting to a Super Bowl"

First, the Ravens won the Super Bowl after the 2000 season (January 28, 2001, beating the New York Giants 34–7);

Second, not counting the year of the Super Bowl win, the Ravens have been to the playoffs seven times since:
after the 2001 season, after the 2003 season (AFC North Division champs), after the 2006 season (AFC North Division champs), after the 2008 season, after the 2009 season, after the 2010 season and after the 2011 season (AFC North Division champs).

If you mean playing in the playoffs with Flacco as QB? This is Flacco's fourth season after being drafted.

Flacco has the best starting record of any QB in his first 4 years of a career in NFL HISTORY. Get that steelergold? NFL HISTORY. Sorry, I just find it very hard to believe that it was all despite him rather than because of him.

Flacco also has one of the WORST playoff QB ratings of all time. If you don't believe me, do a 'net search yourself.

Yes, it's so crazy to nail Flacco because the Ravens could be up 17-3 Sunday, while Flacco's gone 4 for 12. For 80 yards at the time! He's SUCH an important part of the team, isn't he? They couldn't do it without him.

Hey, if Flacco were my QB I'd be fighting mad, too.

You sure it was staged?

And note to ppdoc -- stop it with this delusion you have that if the Ravens hold on to a pass or two, they win the playoff game last year. The ONLY reason the Ravens even scored was off a fluke charity runback TD where all the Steelers stood around because they thought they'd heard a whistle. They shouldn't have even been in a position to maybe win. The Ravens lost to the Steelers because the Steelers own them in playoff games. It's that simple.

Doesn’t this story bring to mind the classic Chicken vs. Egg question?

Does Cam Cameron hold Flacco back or is Flacco limiting the plays Cam Cameron can call? He obviously has the arm strength, but the consensus to this point surrounding Flacco has been that he doesn’t go through his progressions quickly enough to become anything more than a somewhat decent QB.

Perhaps throwing jump balls down the sidelines and check-downs to Ray Rice is in fact what gives Flacco the best chance to succeed. After all, I would imagine that Cam knows his QB better than any of his critics or apologists do.
---------------------------------------

A very good argument. I think what tips the scales for most is his history with other QBs. How did Brees and Rivers do after Cameron as opposed to before? I didn't pay enough attention to the Chargers to know for sure, nor do I pay enough attention to the Ravens to warrant any kind of opinion from me. But if Flacco were just a mediocre QB with trouble reading defenses, I would think that the Ravens would have brought in some stiffer competition than Tyrod Taylor....

Cleveland's receivers are worse and their offense is more predictable.

Part of Flacco's problem is that his receivers aren't spectacular and the play-calling can be questionable.

The other part of Flacco's problem is that he's Joe Flacco.

He's not as bad as people say, but he'll never be better than good.

Still, they won 12 games with him. He just has to be good enough for the Ravens to win.

The Ravens were good enough to beat the Pats a few years ago and Flacco completed one pass and was intercepted a few times, or something like that.

But they still got the win, which means that Flacco's average play means nothing.

Did Belicheat hire a Raven ex-head coach the week before the game? It’s an excellent way to steal the silent signal counts and tendencies."

LOL do you have the slightest clue about what you're talking about ?

Nothing was stolen and none of the whiners crying about Josh being picked up by the Pats after St Louis gave him permission to do so in order to avoid paying his contract said a single word in 2009 when the Fins released their DC at the end of the season and the Cowboys immediately picked him up for their playoff run. Its called a double standard and invalidates your complaint.

Secondly, how would Josh know any more about signal counts and tendencies from a totally different offense and defense from his own that Fox runs than what Belichick can get from the all 22 film ? He can't.

Thirdly, if you had actually paid attention the Pats moved to get Josh McD back the moment O'Brien was confirmed as the Ped State coach. They picked him up so they'd have an OC next year that Belichick wouldn't have to break in. If you really think it needed what tiny input McD had last weekend to beat the Donks you really have very little knowledge of football.
