I don't understand why anyone here wants to keep Arians or keep it in the family for the next coach.
If Arians threw any screen but a bubble screen I would faint. If Arians ever put in Redman in for a whole game except being forced to because his dancing boys of Moore and Mendenhall who can't score at the goal line or get first downs like Redzone, I would look to the heavens and see if the world is ending. If Arians ever forced Ben to do anything other than take a sack no matter how futile the situation to make a pass and instead throw it away I would check my pulse. If Arians ever made Roethlisberger look more like Brady except the one time he faced Brady I would jump from the window because I know I am dreaming. Maybe I am dreaming. He is gone and lets go get Clements of Greenbay who made the backup to Aaron Rodgers look better than Rogers because this is a passing league and we wont do it alone with 3 yards and a cloud of dust and an aging defense.

Just my 2 cents.

Holy cow!!!! I'm off the blog a few days and look what happens!!! Holy cow!!!!

Arians was capable of calling great games, but then he'd turn around and make some of the worst decisions. We'd have several great games in a row and you'd think he'd finally gotten it ... then he'd make a comment to send your heart into your throat. He just lacked consistency and a commitment to balance. And I think he was too quick to let Ben run the show. Ben's a great talent, but he's not necessarily a great decisionmaker. We need coaches capable of working with him, but keeping him in check.

Not defending Arians because the play calling was,....I'll just leave it at that, but I think perhaps the problems with the O line and the results of Ben's play resulting from his ankle issues could be factors in ranking 21st in offense. Just sayin'....

Good Luck with the medicare !! I am sure he was probably asked to retire or be let go and he has stated that he didnt want to coach for any other team before other than the Steelers so I am sure he just decided to retire.

As far as next guy, I dont see a big name coming in who is going to be leaving for a headd coaching gig in a year or two so like with Coher andd Tomlin and previous coahes..It will be a guy who is under the radar and someone that will stay for awhile. That all depends on Wilson and when and if he will be able to return and if he was in their plans or not.

Let me start a really flimsy and completely inaccurate rumor.

The Steelers just signed Troy Smith.

Where did Smith start his career?

Who was the coach of that team?

Bingo. Your new Pittsburgh Steeler offensive coordinator.

You heard it here first! And I am pretty sure you will never hear it anywhere else.

The importance of the Coordinator/Ass’t Coach is being overstated here. The Steelers will be good next season because they’re always good, every season. Whether Arians was part of it or not.

Either you are like 18 years old or you have a very bad memory. Tommy Maddox, EHHHHH! Kordell Stewart, EHHHHHH! and my favorite of all time BUBBY BRISTER. EHHHHHH!
I think Bruce could have been a great coordinator for another team with different personnel and a good pass-blocking o-line.

But he didn't exactly fit in Pittsburgh. Sometimes the play-calling was SO frustrating.

With that being said, the Steelers still did enough to win with him, which is the most important part.

I hope he has a good retirement.

Those saying the Steelers will crumble next year are the same ones who said we would be 5-11 or worse this year. Brainless, that's all.

As for Arians, I assume good internal reason for this to happen and has nothing to do with what the fans have said. Steelers have never made decisions that way, far as I know. The team will move forward and will have some new offensive wrinkles, which is fine with me. Need to find a coordinator who can maximize the potential of a possibly very explosive passing game, complemented by a decent running game. Ben the the young WR's could be formidible given the right strategy.

The Steelers have had 9 or more wins 16 of the last 20 seasons.

No reason that trend doesn't continue whoever they plug in at OC.

If I can tell what play's gonna be run just by looking at the formation, then certainly opposing defenses can too.

rushmatic regurgitated, "As if the Squealer fans didn’t already have a DEATH GRIP on past accomplishments.

Better get ready to live solely through the SB wins of the past, Squealer fans. The team is absolutely crumbling."

2008: 12-4
2009: 9-7
2010: 12-4
2011: 12-4

Only thing crumbling here is your credibility. And learn how to spell "Steelers" properly, you illiterate fool!

Goes to show how stupid and ignorant Steeler fans are. Your offense has never been better and considering your patch work O-line Bruce has been great. He also has helped transform your QB from a game manager to a top 10 passer. Steeler fans are ignorant at knowing football....ok go ahead and tell me I am dumb and you have 6 super bowls...blah blah blah.

yeah, I have no problem with Tebow and that game. Ben hurt, our pro bowl center out, ryan out... too bad back ups were not just better but Ben wasn't great with his injury.

I can understand steeler haters.. human personality not to like 'winning teams'. Especially like Browns fans...

Look at the data for your information.

Steelers 3 Super Bowl appearances last 6 years. But for example, Browns, one playoff in 2002.

Will the Steelers continue to win... no doubt about it. Winning organization versus how many other loser organization. I'm not stupid enough to think any team is perfect. Its called winning.. ever since you moved on as a little kid where coach pitch softball, they didn't keep score... try telling high school kids.. oh don't worry about the score... HA... its about winning.. always was.. always will be. But be gracious, not arrogant.

So.. look forward to another 42 years of watching Steelers... though I don't think I'll make it !
