Flacco in a groove as Ravens hanging with Patriots

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco throws against the New England Patriots during first quarter AP

The Patriots defense forced a three-and-out against the Ravens on Baltimore’s first three possessions Sunday. But the Patriots didn’t make them pay.

Since then, Joe Flacco is on fire. He’s hit seven straight passes, with three of them going for more than 20 yards as the Ravens tied the Patriots 10-10 with six minutes left in the second quarter.

Tom Brady has misfired on a few passes to open receivers and he was picked off early. The Patriots are finding holes on the ground, with BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushing for 47 yards on seven carries.

So the Patriots are out-running the Ravens and the Ravens are out-passing the Patriots. Just like everyone expected.

UPDATE 4:35 p.m. ET: The Patriots lead 13-10 at halftime.

Is it just me or does Flacco look like the blue eagle on the Muppets?

    I said it a few days ago….

The Pats would turn to The Law Firm
and the Ravens would go to Torrey Smith
    early and deep.

Refs letting them play…..which means holding by the Ravens.

    Brady picking it up now…..

  3. bleed4philly says: Jan 22, 2012 4:17 PM

Don’t worry, he’ll fumble a snap any moment now.

  4. mrplow3 says: Jan 22, 2012 4:18 PM

    Good for him.

Though I still dislike his personality. He’s a very whiny, glory seeking type of guy…..

    And the uni-brow doesn’t help.

The flag above the stadium, the Air Force fly over, and the name on the door – National Football League represents every player, and yet many can’t even show proper respect during the National Anthem, how disgraceful!

how many ..kowski’s are playing in this game!?!

Gronk was in on that pass. I paused it. Left foot is down with possession. Right foot clearly in.

I see that they are not calling holding on the Rat Birds

  9. todd49401 says: Jan 22, 2012 4:35 PM

Bad call on the first would be interception of the Ravens…at least they got the 2nd interception. Watch out for the refs- they are known to be close friends with the Steelers and Patriots. Tuck rule anyone? Give me a break

Glad I wasn’t the only one thinking Gronk was in on that play

Ravens lose. PAtriots lose. Steelers win.

Pats fans already crying … sweet … great confidencevote by BB for his offense before half time taking a knee …

Whoever it was that ripped BJGE’s helmet off should have been ejected from the game.

Don’t know if the 10 point 1st half against that awful Patriots defense will be good enough though.

Flacco has twice underthrown a wide-open Torrey Smith…Both would have gone for easy Touchdowns had there been a clean connection.

I see the pat fans are whining as usual

Is it just me or has Ray Lewis really regressed? I don’t watch the ravins much, mostly because their style of play is boring as heck. Just looks like Ray has lost much more than a step. If Suggs wasn’t so good, Lewis would really be a liability. Hang them up Ray, do your team a favor.

Wow that was a big missed tackle…

  26. bleed4philly says: Jan 22, 2012 5:16 PM

Ravens should be up by 8 right now! Too bad Flacco can only throw screen passes.

  27. shorelinemike says: Jan 22, 2012 5:17 PM

I’m sorry but that last touchdown (that put the Ravens in the lead 17-16) should NOT have been allowed. How could the referees have missed the offensive face mask?

  28. lanman11 says: Jan 22, 2012 5:26 PM

What is it about Bernard Pollard that causes serious injuries to other players?

  30. shorelinemike says: Jan 22, 2012 6:13 PM

Congratulations to the AFC champion New England Patriots.

  31. ampatsisahypocrite says: Jan 22, 2012 6:13 PM

Groove? More like choke! Flacco threw the game-losing pick, it was over except the defense bailed him out yet again.

The Ravens will NEVER go to the Super Bowl with Flacco.

  32. bleed4philly says: Jan 23, 2012 2:01 AM

    @ somesome

Did you not see the overthrown deep pass to a wide open Torrey Smith?

  33. bleed4philly says: Jan 23, 2012 2:02 AM

Flacco will never win a Superbowl, he’s got McNabb syndrome.
