Gronkowski suffers ankle injury

Baltimore Ravens strong safety Bernard Pollard tackles New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski Reuters

With the Patriots trailing by four late in the third quarter, All Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski caught a pass that put New England into Baltimore territory.

And as safety Bernard Pollard tackled Gronkowski, Pollard’s leg landed on Gronkowski’s lower left leg, bending the ankle awkwardly.

Gronkowski has been taken to the locker room for further evaluation.  He seemed to be walking with a slight limp.

Baltimore leads, 20-16.

The Refs just made the right call on the QB sneak. How weird.

As I 49er fan, I hope the team with the most injuries wins. Does that make me a bad person?

  6. tatum064 says: Jan 22, 2012 5:38 PM

    Pollard does it again!!

doesnt matter, though Brady sneaks, and Baltimore is down by 3

  7. lanman11 says: Jan 22, 2012 5:38 PM

Brady, Welker, now Gronkowski. I don’t want to say what I am thinking about Bernard Pollard.

Looks like Gronk is back on the field. He was face masked on Brady’s goal line leap!

if his ankle is not broken,it’s sprained as bad as it can get without being broken.

  13. vicktator says: Jan 22, 2012 5:45 PM

Pollard should change his last name to Karma. He is my favorite player in the NFL.

  14. tatum064 says: Jan 22, 2012 5:46 PM

    NO problem INT, Spikes…

thanks, Flacco….now the Pats can press the pedal to the metal

Turned over on downs ….. now, can Brady get his act together and stick the dagger????

Ravens are getting way too much help from the refs; if they win,it should because they earned it, not because they had that extra player on their side.

Two minutes left, Pat’s have the ball…… and the lead.

man, this has been a great game!

  22. ampatsisahypocrite says: Jan 22, 2012 6:00 PM

No matter what happens, fact is Flacco threw the game-losing interception… we’ll just see if the Baltimore defense can bail him out yet again.

Sure it’s no Joey Sunshine, but that looked like it hurt. I’m now watching the game with my ankle elevated surrounded by ice…………and beer.

Steelers showed how an “elite” QB can beat the PATS….Flacco not in that category

Lee Evans…awful. Pats did not deserve the win. Why couldn’t they go to Boldin on 3rd and 1? Edelman was on him again. Man this one hurts. They’re blowing Brady and he had a 57.5 rating.

If he and Kyle Arrington start next week it will be the first time 2 undrafted rookies start the Super Bowl at corner

  39. rdollie says: Jan 22, 2012 10:51 PM

smashmouth1968, I got a double ear infection listening to Tyler’s hatchet job of the National Anthem. I was truly embarrassed for the man. He should have learned the adage that it’s better to leave the scene a day early than a day too late –> not a good way to have your singing career remembered.
